There are a lot of easy to edit portions of SharePoint 2007 websites, Microsoft has tried to make editing the pages as easy as possible. Now I wouldn't go as far as to say that you don't have to know any code to be able to program or edit SharePoint 2007 websites, but they have made it so much easier to change basic things. The title and icon for the main page is one of these easy to edit sections. You just have to have admin rights and know where the image you want to use as your icon is located.
If you want to change the title and icon of your main SharePoint 2007 website just follow these steps:
1. Open your website
2. Click on Login (if you aren't logged in already by default)
3. Click on Site Actions (will only appear if you have admin rights to this SharePoint 2007 website)
4. Click Site Settings
5. Click Title, Description and Icon (Under Look and Feel Section)
6. Type the new Title you want displayed in the Title text box
7. Type Description of the page (optional)
8. Enter the URL or location of the Icon you want to use (where ever you have it stored, best idea is to place it with the other SharePoint 2007 images)
9. Type Description of the Icon (optional)
10. Click OK
Navigate back to your SharePoint 2007 website home page and now you should see the new title and icon on the top of the page. That is all there is to making this change, its surprising how such a little change can have such a big impact over your page. With your own Icon and Title you can brand your SharePoint 2007 website to your company, business, or division.
Well I hope this guide helps you to edit your Title and Icon on your SharePoint 2007 website home page.
