Ted Leonsis Inducted into Washington Business Hall of Fame

Former AOL Executive and Current Washington Sports Owner Achieves New Award

Ted Leonsis was inducted into the Washington Business Hall of Fame on November 30, 2010. Anyone in Washington, D.C. knows Ted Leonsis. He is the founder, chairman, and prime owner of Lincoln Holdings LLC. What does Lincoln Holding do? They own the Washington Capitals NHL Team, the WNBA's Washington Mystics, it also owns a large chunk of an organization which controls the NBA's Washington Wizards, the Verizon Center (the Mystics, Capitals, and Wizards home) and the Baltimore-Washington Ticketmaster Franchise. Nationally, Ted might be known for his long run as the head of AOL.

Ted also has an interest in filmmaking. Leonsis is also invested with several other businesses. Ted Leonsis is well known as a sports owner, a successful business owner, but he also has a passion for helping. In addition to writing a check, Ted likes to roll up his sleeves and get involved. Some of the organization Leonsis helps include Best Buddies, Hoop Dreams, See Forever Foundation, Venture Philanthropy Partners, and YouthAIDS. He either helps them himself or through his foundation called The Leonsis Foundation.

Ted lives outside of Washington , D.C. in McLean , Virginia and also has a home in Vero Beach , Florida . Ted Leonsis belongs in the Washington Business Hall of Fame due to his success in the local business arena. One should remember AOL is based outside of Washington . He controls all of Washington 's major sports except the Washington Nationals and Washington Redskins. Leonsis is a proven business leader who also believes in giving back. Washington benefits from having Ted Leonsis in their community as he brings much needed help, leadership and finances to local charities.

Ted Leonsis is inducted in the 2010 class along with BET CEO Debra L. Lee, West Group CEO Gerald T. Halpin, Clyde's Restaurant Group President John G. Laytham, and CACI International Chairman Dr. J. Phillip London. Leonsis represents the Washington business world well and certainly belongs in the Washington Business Hall of Fame.
