Acne can be a frustrating skin problem, especially in teens, whose skin is at the whim of hormones, stress and poor diets. Many teens spend money on expensive treatments, cover-ups and visits to the dermatologist. However, sometimes the easiest solution can be found right in your own medicine cabinent. One acne-buster that is worth a try is an aspirin mask.
The aspirin mask works to eliminate acne, reduce redness and clarify skin tone for all different skin types. To make the mask, purchase the inexpensive, uncoated type of aspirin from the drugstore. In a small bowl, crush between 5-10 pills into a fine powder with the back of a spoon or kitchen knife. Next, add a little bit of water or cleanser to make a paste. It should be thick enough to stick to the skin, but not chunky. Apply the paste to your face, avoiding the eye area, and leave on for 10 minutes.
Rinse the mask off thoroughly and apply moisturizer when you are finished.
The results are not immediate, but when you wake up the next day, the aspirin will have worked its magic and helped clarify your face. If you have sensitive skin and feel like the mask is burning or stinging, wash it off right away. Do not use the aspirin mask too often, only one time per week at most. It is perfectly safe, but your delicate facial skin may become irritated with constant use.
This mask is quite inexpensive and effective. Give it a try. If you have severe or problem acne, however, your best bet is to see a professional dermatologist so he or she can diagnose the cause of your acne. For clear skin, every teen should be sure to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize the skin daily, and always wash any make-up off before going to bed. Be sure to drink at least eight glasses of water a day as well in order to stay hydrated. Your skin will thank you!
