Teen Girl's Prom for Under $100

Parents and teen girls cringe at the thought of buying prom supplies. Many dresses can cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Of course, you also need shoes, a purse, hair accessories, and makeup. Girls can create the perfect prom outfit, complete with accessories for under $100. This something both parents and teens can agree on.

~The Dress

The dress is typically the most expensive part of a teen girl's ensemble. Often times, girls forget about price and look only at designer labels. However, the best dresses can be found much cheaper.

Visit local thrift stores immediately after prom to get a head start. If you've waited until a few months before, that's fine as well. Be sure to start shopping at least two months in advanced to find a good selection.

Visit discount clothing stores. Many stores now offer designer labels at a fraction of the cost. For instance, Ross sells prom dresses that usually cost $200 or more for only $30 to $40. These are dresses that either didn't sell the year before or were overstock. Take advantage of the discounts.

Look at your local mall. Many teen oriented stores sell prom dresses. One popular store is Deb. At least half of their prom dress selection is under $50. If you shop after prom season, you can find prom dresses starting at $10.

~Shoes

Look for clearance sales at your local shoe stores. Also, don't be afraid to shop at discount stores such as Wal-Mart and Target. The shoes are high quality, will match the dress, and no one has to know you only paid $10 to $20 for those incredible heels.

Check your local thrift store. Thrift stores often have brand new dress shoes for under $5 a pair. They are shoes that someone only wore once to a specific event and then discarded.

~Purse

Once again, thrift and discount stores are a perfect place to look. Purses can range from $1 to $20. Stores such as Belk, Sears, and JCPenny run clearance sales on purses. Purses that normally cost $50 or more will only run you about $10.

Try to find something neutral that will match any dress you buy. For instance, black or white will match most colors and can be used with other ensembles.

~Hair & Makeup

Purchase makeup from local drug stores or department stores. If you already have makeup on hand, use that. You don't need special makeup just for prom. The only makeup you should purchase is eye shadow or lipstick to match the dress.

Look at prom hairstyles online and do your hair at home. The only cost you have is your time. If you need accessories, you can normally find all required accessories for under $10. Have a friend or parent help you.

With a little preparation and some basic shopping skills, you can create the perfect prom ensemble for teen girls for under $100. Everyone will think you paid much more, but only you need to know the truth.
