Teen Killed for Being Disrespectful

Cynthia Springsteen
What does it take to make a mother kill her teenager because she is "disrespectful"? In breaking news reported by the Associated Press in White Plains, New York a mother Stacey Pagli has admitted to killing her 18 year old daughter Marissa at her college campus, because she was disrespectful. The mother claims that the daughter was disrespectful all the time and had pushed her last button! The mother choked her daughter Marissa with her hands and says that she knew that she had killed her. The mother then went on to claim that she felt that she was "too much baggage" for her husband and tried to take her own life as well. The family lived on campus, the father John Paglia was a maintenance supervisor. He found his wife unconscious and his daughter dead on February 22, 2010. Pagli tried to commit suicide by cutting her left wrist and hanging herself on a doorknob, according to the Westchester district attorney's office. Her arraignment is currently pending.

Parents are faced with disrespect from teenagers many times during those trying years. Teenagers are in the phase of their life when they feel they don't need anyone telling them what to do or how to do it. Respect towards their elders seems to be a growing issue for the teens today. No matter what is said between parent and child, no matter how many times this may happen are we to believe killing her was the only option this mother saw? When faced with a teen who is being disrespectful, walk away if you are that angry about it. When you have calmed down communicate with your child and explain respect is mutual and respect is important. This goes way back in time something that should be stressed in every home. When they are allowed to get away with talking to their parents in a disrespectful manner there must be consequences, but under no circumstances should this be death!

Very interesting! The Bible contains much wise counsel on the raising of children, the Book of Proverbs in particular. I think of "Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right." from Ephesians 6:1.
