How would you redefine society?

This is a tough question faced by many parents and single adults. Should we start with our youth? Perhaps that seems too difficult. It seems that there is no hope left for the youth of America especially with premarital sex, drug use, murder and theft on the rise among teenagers in society. However, we should not give up hope so quickly.

On April 13th and 14th tens of thousands of teenagers will gather together in Detroit, MI for a Christian worship and praise festival. The event, otherwise known as BattleCry, will be hosted by Teen Mania. The event's purpose is to reach out to a younger generation and change their viewpoints of the rising American culture. Founder of Teen Mania, Ron Luce, believes that teenagers are being swamped with negative images from the media and his goal is to provide a positive alternative.

The BattleCry festival will include popular rock musicians and vibrant speakers that are well known in the Christian community. Among the performing bands are P.O.D., Skillet, FlyLeaf, Hillsong Untitled, Hawk Nelson, and Tye Tribbett.

Tickets for the event are quite reasonable, ranging from $55 to $70 if bought in advance and $99 at the door. As of today, the floor and lower level seats are already sold out, leaving the view and club level seats available for purchase.

The event to be held in Detroit is the second to be held this year. The first BattleCry event was held the first week of March in San Francisco, CA with 22,000 teenagers attending. The third and final event will be held May 11th and 12th in Baltimore, MA.

Ron Luce, who initiated the BattleCry movement in 2006, is truly giving his all in helping teens discard of the negative pop culture messages and restore a teen culture with a positive spin.

"We connect with teens through culturally-relevant rallies that include top artists, edgy messages, eye-popping images, even pyrotechnics - but we deliver a radically different, counter-culture message. We are equipping teens to lead passionate, character-filled lives; finding their sense of purpose in God, not in society or culture," explained Ron Luce on the BattleCry movement that seems to be rising in popularity among young Christian teens. Teen Mania also offers internships, extreme camps, mission trips and concerts in more than thirty cities across America. The organization has grown quite rapidly and has plans to continue growing. They would like to reach their goal of working with 100,000 churches that are completely committed in reaching this generation by guiding and encouraging them to become involvement in their local communities and churches.

No, we should not give up hope so quickly. This is only the beginning of many great opportunities among our youth.
