Seven square miles doesn't sound like much, but I guess it really is. News of this didn't even reach my neighborhood about this incident. I realize this is odd, but I live in both Upper Darby and Clifton Heights. My trash, police, and anything else major, when calling dispatch, I have to say Upper Darby. Yet my mailing address and the welcome signs where I live say Clifton Heights. The whole town is split down the middle in a very strange way. Last place I lived in this area, my side of the street was Upper Darby, across the street was Clifton heights. Go Figure! Anyway, on to the theft, and following crash of the SEPTA bus.

Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood Let the residents of Upper Darby know right away that the teen was arrested. Unfortunately, not before the boy hit close to two dozen parked cars and one occupied car. There were no injuries caused by the incident, thankfully.

The teen that stole the bus is sixteen years old and is mentally disabled. He actually told the police he wanted to practice for his driving test. Unfortunately he has the mental capacity of an eight year old. At the time of the incident, he was supposed to take, as in ride, the bus to school. He resided in a group home in the bordering neighborhood of West Philadelphia.

Teen Steals SEPTA Bus in Upper Darby, PA-Immediate Police Response

When the teen stole he bus it was unoccupied, thank the Lord above. The bus was parked, but idling, as they typically are. I'm guessing this will now change. who would have really thought someone would steal a huge bus though? Please watch video at the end to see the sheer size of the bus and the damage he caused in his wake. The bus depot is a mere three blocks from the police station. This is definitely a factor in quick action and quick end to the ordeal. The sirens and flashing lights scared the teen, so he unsuccessfully pulled into a parking lot.
