Teen Valentine's Day Gifts

Age Appropriate Gifts for Teenage Couples

Sass Ashe
If you are the parent of a teenager, then you know that letting them date is a scary prospect, especially if they seem to be getting serious about a member of the opposite sex. Obviously your teenager is not going to go spend a romantic Valentine's weekend vacation with their date somewhere in the Bahamas or up in the mountains. And the last thing you want your 16 year old giving or receiving for Valentine's Day is a piece of expensive jewelry. So what do you tell your teen when they ask you what they should get their girlfriend or boyfriend for Valentine's Day? Here are few suggestions that are appropriate for a teenager.

Gifts for a girl

· Flowers are always an appropriate gift for Valentine's Day but they do not have to be extremely expensive roses. A small bouquet of flowers that can be purchased at the local supermarket with a nice card will make any girl feel good.

· Candy is another appropriate gift and once again, the box of chocolates does not have to be expensive.

· Stuffed animals are a nice gift and if the boy dating your daughter really wants to make an impression - and has the money to do it - they can go to a 'Build-A-Bear Workshop' and have a very special bear made for her.

· A gift certificate to her favorite store, such as Claire's Boutique, the local book or music store, or even her favorite place to eat.

· Best friend necklaces where he gets to keep one half and she the other.

· Name a star for her and present her with the certificate and coordinates of her special star.

Gifts for a boy

· Personalized dog tags that have his name on one and a message from his girl on the other.

· Laptop skin for his laptop computer of his favorite sports team.

· Team clothing, such as baseball hats, jerseys, and t-shirts.

· Life size celebrity stand-up of his favorite actress or movie character. If he likes movies , a poster of his favorite movie to decorate his room will also be enjoyed.

· If he enjoys doing jigsaw puzzles, one of the couple together would be a fun gift that the couple could actually put together...together.

· A gift certificate to his favorite store.

· Movie or concert tickets that he could use with his favorite girl or with his best friend for a guy's night out.

If you want to keep an eye on your teenager especially if they are really too young to go out on a date, why not offer to cook dinner for them and their special friend? You can set the tone for them with candles and serve them dinner while still being able to hear everything that goes on...even if it is only giggling from embarrassment.

I've got a teen-targeted article much like this one. Great work on this. I always love seeing other CPs' takes on topics I have interests in.
