Tip #1 - Find a Sport You Love
Participating in a sport is a great way to translate the extra energy you have as a teenager into serious weight loss. Not only will participating in a sport help you to lose weight, but it will also help you to tone your muscles and improve the condition of your body. Participating in a sport will also help to supercharge your metabolism which will enable you to keep the weight off once it has been lost.
Tip #2 - Focus on Nutrition
The food that you put into your body impacts your health and your weight. If you are interested in losing weight then try to make small adjustments to what you eat. For example, instead of eating fried snacks try eating baked versions of the snacks. You will also want to enhance your diet with fruits and vegetable. These foods will provide you with the nutrients that your body needs to function effectively, as well as fiber that will keep you from overeating.
Tip #3 - Enter Sporting Events
Sporting events and competitions are great motivators for weight loss. There are lots of events that you can enter including local road races, weight lifting competitions and endurance races. If you don't like the competitive aspect of sports competitions then focus on ones that are non-contact sports, such as running, biking and swimming.
Tip #4 - Exercise Everyday
If you want to make losing weight less of a struggle you need to make exercise a part of your daily routine. To do this you will need to exercise every day. You can set a certain time slot aside each day to exercise. For example, you can run every morning before you go to school, or you can workout at the gym every day after school.
Tip #5 - Try New Exercises
Since you will be exercising everyday it will be easy to get bored with your routine. To keep motivated on your path to teen weight loss you will want to shake things up. Each week try at least one new exercise. For example, you can try a new exercise class, you are try a new sport or you can challenge yourself with an extreme workout. This practice of shaking things up is not only important for keeping you motivated to lose weight, but it is also important for keeping your body challenged and responsive to your efforts to lose weight and to improve your physical condition.
