Teenage Anniversary Gifts

When it comes to anniversary gifts, it is important to do or create something special. Because you are 18, your significant other will understand why you can't spend loads of money on it. Instead, all that will matter is that it is heartfelt and not the standard dinner and a movie date.

Use Your Head

Some of the best gifts are objects which you create yourself, instead of purchasing from the store. This shows you put much more thought into your anniversary gift. Try to relate it to when you two first met. If you met at a sporting event you could create custom-looking tickets with a picture of you two on it. This will represent both the two of you and how you met. It might sound a little quirky or sappy, but the gift is heartfelt and it will mean that much more to your special someone.

Mix Up the Flowers

If you want to purchase some flowers, don't just go with a dozen roses. That has been done before. Again, the thought put into the gift is almost more important than the gift itself. Instead of picking up something premade, go into a floral shop and ask the opinion of the associate about what might look good together, then help him create your own bouquet of flowers. If your special someone has a favorite color or flower, make sure to include it.

There is even a little trick you can use to create a color of flower which doesn't actually exist. Purchase a white version of the flower you want (let's say a white rose, but you want the color to be green). Take a cup and mix green food coloring with water. Stick the flower, stem down into the cup, as if it were a miniature vase. After a few days the color will begin to absorb into the stem and will spread out into the pedals, turning them green. So not only will the individual appreciate the thought you put into your gift, but they will love the fact that you created something that didn't actually exist.

Cook Dinner Yourself

Instead of going out to a fancy restaurant where you will be sitting around for two hours, not to mention spending a good deal of money you don't have, arrange for everyone to be out of your house for a few hours and prepare the meal yourself. Have your special someone over while you prepare the food. Allow them to see the work you are putting into it. They will appreciate the gesture even more, especially because you may have never actually prepared a full meal for them before. Even if the food turns out terrible, they will remember it and always appreciate it.
