Teenage Daughters (Poetry)

leroy coffie
If you are lucky like me, you have a teenage daughter. My daughter is fifteen, she is always bored, doesn't want to do anything and believes she is a genius. I remember it was tough being a teenager and sometimes it is tough being a father, but you love your teenage daughters anyway.

I hate you
Leave me alone
Give me some money
Don't touch me

I'm bored
go away
can you buy that for me
don't look at me

I'm a genius
Look it up on Google
take me to the movies
get away from me

You are an idiot
Don't touch my stuff
I need new clothes
Don't look at me

I feel lonely
get out of my room
can we go out to dinner
don't sit next to me

I think it is great that you actually listen to your daughter - an awful lot of fathers are absentee, even when they are home with their families. They tune out everyone and watch the TV, do games on the computer, etc. and etc. Your daughter is very lucky indeed to have a father that listens, and loves her. rcj
