Teenage Girl

It's Hard Being a Girl!

Beth Inman
It's very hard to be a girl

With everything just right

My hair won't do, my makeup's wrong

These pants are just too tight!

The yellow shirt I was to wear

Is on my older sister;

I need new shoes because my old

Put on my toe a blister!

I'm finally dressed and off to school

And in the hall I see

A gorgeous boy who's new here

Is starring straight at me!

His hair is blonde, his eyes are blue;

His smile is, oh, so bright

And as he turns and walks away,

I think that he's just right!

Wait! He stopped and turned around;

He's walking up to me!

I'm glad that I was born a girl,

As difficult as it may be.

At times like this, the trouble's worth

The joy that life can bring;

Like the day that my new sweetheart

Asked me to wear his ring!

So, I'll fight my sister for my shirt,

Fuss with my hair all day;

Keep working till my makeup's right,

Throw those old shoes away.

Yes, it's really fun to be a girl,

And not miss all the joy,

That every girl's heart dances with;

When she meets that "special" boy.

    Yeah, but I sure wouldn't want to have to do my teen years over again!
