Before the Xbox Live Arcade game is released on the Xbox Live Marketplace, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is getting a price drop. You will now be able to purchase the highly-anticipated game for 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99).

The Xbox Live Arcade game is the high-definition remake of the classic arcade title, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (also known as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time). Although there were numerous games based on the popular franchise, the arcade titles were the best known.

The first arcade game is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game in 1989 (later ported to the Xbox Live Arcade in 2007). Unlike its predecessor, the second game in the series doesn't come from the platforming genre. Instead, it is a combat-focused beat 'em up game where you and up to three other friends can play as the four Ninja Turtles: Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project came out two years later in 1991. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time marked the final arcade beat 'em up title in the series during the same year.

Publisher and developer Konami saved their best effort for last. Many considered Turtles in Time to be the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game and one of the best titles in the beat 'em up genre. In addition to the nice mix of diverse and intense levels, up to four players can partake in some incredible boss fights.

Ubisoft, who currently own the license for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video games, decided to bring the classic arcade game to the Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. In addition to upgraded graphics, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled also adds online gameplay to the multiplayer mode.

Microsoft managed to snag Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled as a timed-exclusive for the Xbox Live Arcade, meaning that the game will be released on the Xbox 360 first. However, plenty of fans were vocal about the initial price of the game, which was 1200 Microsoft Points ($14.99). They felt that a remake with minimal upgrades isn't worth the high price tag.

Fortunately, it looks like Ubisoft is listening to their fans as they are now dropping the price tag down to a more affordable 800 Microsoft Points ($9.99) for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled.

The remake will be released on the Xbox Live Marketplace of the Xbox 360 in early August and the Playstation Store of the Playstation 3 a month later.
