Teenage Winter Activities in Rhode Island

mamalav
There is always something to do in Rhode Island, whether it be in the Summer or the Winter. As your children get older and become teenagers, it actually becomes harder to keep them occupied and off the computer or couch. Below are some ideas that I have gathered for where to bring your teens during the winter in Rhode Island.

Providence Place Mall is located in the center of Downtown Providence, RI right off Route 95. This is the largest mall in Rhode Island and has the anchor stores of Nordstrom and Macy's. There are a lot of specialty shops in this mall, a huge food court, lots of separate restaurants, a 16 cinema movie theater and an IMAX movie theater. Above the food court is a Dave & Busters which the teenagers will really love and can go in until 9pm but must be accompanied by an adult (with a ratio of at least 1 adult for every 3 children).

Patriot Cinema located on Route 1A, Rumford, RI - Telephone: (401)438-1100
This is a cinema with late run movies, not brand new, but for the price it is unbeatable! The price is $1.99 and Tuesday's are only $1.00. The theater is older and not plush and state of the art, but is a great place for a cold winter day. The cinema is located on busy Newport Ave and there are lots of shops and restaurants very close by where the teens can also visit and spend time.

Tilt Family Entertainment (Arcade) located in Warwick Mall, Route 3, Warwick, RI - Telephone (401) 732-5672
The arcade is located in the food court area of the Warwick Mall, so there is alot to do right around that same area in the mall. The kids can have lunch, play video games, and then there is an F.Y.E. store where they can buy CD's or create their own custom CD or download tracks to an MP3 player.

University of Rhode Island Rams Basketball, The Ryan Center, 1 Lincoln Almond Plaza, Kingston, 401-874-RAMS
College basketball is alot of fun for the entire family and is a great way for teenagers that are interested in the sport to see it close up without needing to travel far or spend alot of money. It is also a great way for those boys that might want to play college basketball to see how it is done.

Clayground located at 5600 Post Rd. (Benny's Plaza) East Greenwich, RI 02818 is a great place for anyone who is creative. There are all sorts of pre-cast ceramic items that you can choose from and paint. There is no charge for the studio or the use of the paints, that is all figured in the price of the piece you choose. You paint and decorate what you have selected and then have it fired (if necessary). This may mean you need to go back another day to pick up your creation.

For such a small state, it seems like there's a lot to do. Good reporting!

Spring break is almost here but I'm saving this one so I have some place to go and something to suggest next time my teens ask if they can sled off the roof ;).....and yes, they REALLY did.
