Teledildonics, Sex Toys, iPods and Cell Phones

Want to Know What They Have in Common?

Teledildonics is a way of integrating modern mobile technology that relies on user senses such as voice and actions with sex, particularly sex toys. In other words it's remote controlled sex toys.

More commonly known as cyberdildonics, the term Teledildonics was adopted sometime in the 1980's by Theodor Nelson, who also came up with the word "hypertext."

Theodor Nelson pioneered the information age with his technological inventions. As a sociologist and philosopher, studies led him to believe that creating a user interface simple enough for even the newest beginner to manipulate is possible. He has been quoted, saying, "Most people are fools, most authority is malignant, God does not exist, and everything is wrong."

Before the days of the simulator, there was the full body suit. The cyber sex suit was a wearable device that looked a little like a wet suit covered in remote controlled sensors that sent electric shocks to different parts of the body. Alas, the suit was never meant to be as it posed a potential threat to its victims...uh wearers, and was never government approved.

The Sinulator, an interface still available today, is a neat invention that allows either two people to have cybersex at the same time, their movements manipulate each others devices or it can be remotely controlled by one person while played with by another. The cool thing is all you need a computer and an internet connection. The Sinulator comes with a quick start CD, USB plug and software to start chat sessions on the internet.

As technology has changed and evolved, the sex toy industry has seen a progression in the way technology is being used for personal pleasure. Everything in this day and age is all about how small, sleek and mobile it is.

The creators of the OhMiBod device are just one of the new sex toy companies showing up in the world with small, sleek and mobile hardware. They released a vibrating sex toy that works with the iPod. It vibrates in rhythmic patterns according to the music you listen to. The little beauty sells for $69. There are a wide range of accessories to go along with the OhMiBod including a spot on their website called Club Vibe where DJ's play music specifically designed to get those toys hitting just the right spots.

The Second Life website has been made teledildonic friendly in 2005 by the guy known as qDot with his force feedback project. It required some modifying of your own personal hardware to work with the software but they include the instructions in the box.

There is another new technology evolving in the computer era, Bluedildonics. These are sex toys that are synced up to cell phones via Bluetooth. Once they are synced up the toy is controlled through SMS text messages sent from the recognized cell phone. The very first Bluetooth controlled sex toy has been released in the U.K. It's called The Toy and comes from the Cool and Groovy Toy Company. Word on the street is that it is incredibly difficult to get the phone and toy to work together. Very few people have reportedly been able to make it work. $256 dollars is a lot of money to pay for a toy that doesn't work all of the time.

Cybersex has gone high tech and is being used as the new safe sex sale pitch. It could be worse, inventors could be using lawn mower motors to make home-made sex toys. Study up ladies and gents, because I have a feeling the manuals will be needed with these new space-age sex gadgets.

Well, I never thought I'd Google the phrase "sex toy museum," but I did after reading this. Apparently, there are a few around the world but from a quick look, the U.S. is still in need of one. If I open one, want to be a curator?
