Television is Not Your Kids Enemy

Amanda
Television can really open up a childs imagination and teach them a lot as well. Seasame street is a great example, this is a show I grew up with and still flip on here and there. It has catchy songs and can teach you a lot. I learned how to count and some spanish from Seasame street. It opens up children to a world of learning in a fun way. They can also discover a whole new world that they might never be exposed to in their own environment. They can learn about cultures from around the world and languages they might not get exposed to.

On an imaginary level there are many shows that can take children to a new world. Cartoons can lead your child to turn into a dog for the whole day learning the world of a dog like scooby or lady from lady in the tramp. It can let your child's mind go places it might not have gone before.

As they get older they can learn about other places from channels such as the discovery channel, history channel, or animal planet. Visualizing these places from a book and then actually seeing this place is two different things. Television can help childrent discover their future career by seeing the different jobs men and women have on their television. Such as a police officer, reporter,or a zoo keeper. This device really is something that can keep children developing further as they grow. They will learn and be exposed to many things. Not all that is on the television is bad.

Television really is a great thing. It keeps me informed on the world and is constantly helping me learn as an adult. I truly think children will be missing out hugely if they are not allowed to watch television. Television can really help a family and child grow. Having family time in front of the television once and awhile can lead to great decisions and fun. Watching a child's excitement as they see something fun or exciting on television is a precious moment. With older childrent things that were seen on television can lead to a family discussion about life and the world.

I truly believe that watching television is not a bad thing. It can really help a child grow. Watching television opens children to a world they might not have even known existed.
