Television: Rotting the Minds of Our Youth?

I hate to say it, I've learned more from watching TV than I have from my many teachers over the years and that is just sad...

Teachers when I was growing up in the 80's and 90's were just not inspired enough to want to teach and the kids were the same way. The classrooms were overcrowded and everyone was more concerned with goofing off than listening to what the teacher had to say and I have to admit I was one of those kids.

I hated going to school, not only for the fact that it was extremely boring for me, but each of my teachers were too concerned with what time their coffee break were to care if their students were ACTUALLY LEARNING SOMETHING!

As I said I have learned more for TV than from my teachers because I watch A LOT of edu-programming channels such as: Every Discovery Channel, The History Channels, The Learning Channels and I watch A TON of game shows! I have a DVR as most of us do nowadays so I fill mine up with many shows that try to promote learning and most of them are quite entertaining as well.

I watch other TV shows as well, as I am a big fan of the comedy and horror genres. Most of all I like Sci-Fi and watch the Sci-Fi Channel quite frequently as well, such as: StarGate SG-1 (before it was canceled), StarGate Atlantis, and a lot of cheesy made for TV movies which all seem to star Dean Cain LOL.

In my opinion, if it wasn't for TV I really believe that my IQ would be SEVERAL, SEVERAL points lower due to the fact of insufficient teachers when I was growing up.
