The Temporary Protected Status Workshop was scheduled for March 13, 2010 at 9 AM at The International House. People are not registering for this workshop, which was being offered as a free service.
Although the workshop to help people apply for Temporary Protected Status has not been rescheduled, those who need to apply may still do so. Be aware this is a time sensitive issue, and must be done properly.
Anyone who would like to get information about Temporary Protected Status may do so by calling The International House at (704) 333-8099. Also, information will be available through The Immigration Clinic at (704) 405-0962.
Important information needed by anyone from Haiti who needs to apply for Temporary Protected Status is available to all. Please do not hesitate to call to have your questions answered.
You may be eligible if you are a Haitian National and were living in the United States before the earthquake that occurred on January 12th, 2010. Also, you must meet certain immigrant admissibility requirements and other Temporary Protected Status eligibility requirements.
Receiving Temporary Protected Status allows people to get permission to work. However, some incorrectly think this will lead to citizenship, which is not true. Most Haitians applying should be eligible because of Haiti's condition following the January 12th earthquake.
