This Christmas, I asked Santa to bring me one of those fancy pillows, the ones made from the space-age material that lasts and lasts and never needs replacing and supports your head like none other. Well, lo and behold, Ole Saint Nick came through for me.
I was very excited about this pillow, because I am a hard core pillow user and like it to be fluffy and remain fluffy. Most never do and I end up replacing them about once a year.
The first night, I used the pillow and was pretty pleased, however, it has a distinct smell that is unlike anything I have smelled. Its not offensive, just different and something that you would notice. I cannot say that I have gotten used to the smell, but I guess its not going away, so if I continue to use the pillow, the smell is part of the deal. The pillow sleeps very well and with the crater in it, allows for my head placement and neck to be just right and it supports my head and neck quite well. I seem to sleep better when I can keep my head on it. That is another downfall of an otherwise great invention. They make these pillows considerably smaller than a regular size pillow. Its about 18" long, but most pillows are at least 24" long and if it's a king size pillow, then they are even longer. No more snuggling with my wife, not on my pillow anyway, there is not enough room for two heads.
Here are the details on the pillow:
Constructed of viscoelastic memory cells that allow for self-ventilation, this pillow is in a class of its own. The highly specialized material was developed by NASA and adapted by Tempur-Pedic. It is both temperature and weight sensitive, allowing it to mold to your body and support its every curve. The 75% cotton/25% polyester cover has a zipper for easy removal. Cover is machine wash. Imported. 3-year warranty.
These pillows can be purchased most anywhere including the Bed, Bath and Beyond stores, Linen's & Things, as well as online direct from Tempur-Pedic at http://www.tempurpedic.com/home.asp. I am not sure where Santa bought mine or how much he paid for it, but they range from $99.99 to $139.99. Maybe Santa and his team of elves made this pillow, maybe that is where the smell is coming from....
This is my first not-positive review on epinions and I am not happy about it. I really wanted this pillow to work out and be the best thing since sliced bread, but I am having trouble selling it to myself. I am also afraid that Santa will find out and be mad at me... I guess I will deal with that when the time comes.
I would not recommend this pillow to anyone, spare the expense and get a regular pillow that you replace when you need to. Its just not worth it, in my opinion.
After just 7 days, I retired this pricey pillow and have gone back to my old pillow. Last night, I slept on the $10 pillow that is a year old and flat, and slept better! Do not buy these pricey pillows, all they do is take money from your pocket and place it in someone else's pocket!
