Ten 2010 New Year's Resolutions from a Green Bay Packer Fan
It is Time to Resolve the Favre "issue" Once and for All!
So I bring my ten resolutions in 2010 to get over Favre playing for the Minnesota Vikings.
10. I resolve to replace all of my Favre (with Packers) memorabilia with Bart Starr items. If I am going to be nostalgic, I might as well go "old school".
9. I resolve to stop becoming wound up when Minnesota Vikings fans berate me with all kinds of grief over beating Green Bay twice this season with Favre. Seriously, the Vikings have won as many Super Bowl Championships as the New York Yankees, Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Lakers and the Detroit Lions. (That would be none for those keeping score at home).
8. I resolve to stop being bitter at Green Bay Packers' General Manager Ted Thompson for trading Brett Favre to the Jets, starting the whole ordeal of Favre leaving in the first place. With the offensive line he's built in Green Bay the last few seasons, Favre would probably have two broken legs, a separated shoulder, several concussions and a much more tragic than interesting story line.
7. I resolve to not burn my Packer Favre jersey in angst and frustration as that is just way too immature. Instead, I will use it as a target to sight in my rifle for deer hunting season next November.
6. I resolve to start playing darts in 2010. I have several hundred Brett Favre trading cards to practice on.
5. I resolve to make and wear a Fran Tarkenton #10 Packer jersey. Seriously, how could a Minnesota Viking Fan wearing a #4 Favre jersey respond to that?
4. I resolve to tear down my beloved Brett Favre Packer posters off the wall of my man cave. I spent too much time with layout design and hanging time to simply toss in the garbage. Instead, they will be donated to the local Humane Society as liners for a cat pan or a bird cage.
3. I resolve to accept Brett Favre as a Viking in Madden '10 for my Nintendo Wii. I will simply play as the Vikings and let my children destroy me at will, since they can already do it anyway.
2. I resolve to continue making bratwurst on my grill in 2010, but promise to stop grilling my Starting Line Up Brett Favre figurine.
1. I resolve that yes, my list is tongue and cheek, but I will remain a Green Bay fan for life. I will appreciate Favre for what he did for the Packers and will enjoy it even more, when the Green and Gold beat Minnesota in the NFC Playoffs in January.
Happy 2010 everyone...and Go Packers!

Post a CommentNot funny, Rick. I was a Packer fan before you were even born, but because of the way Ted Thompson threw Favre out of Green Bay, I will be a Favre fan first and a Packer fan second, but only after Thompson and McCarthy leave Wisconsin for good. Best of luck to #4 on his long and glorious career and especially in 2010!
