Ten Best Christmas Movies Since 2000

When the Christmas season is about people get in the mood to watch classic Christmas movies, like "A Christmas Story" and "It's A Wonderful Life." But why not watch the new classics? The best holiday movies are not always the old ones. The last decade has seen many great new Christmas movies.

In 2003 "Bad Santa" hit the theater screens with a disturbing take on the tradition of Christmas and in-store Santa Claus. In this twisted holiday flick Billy Bob Thornton plays a drunken Santa who robs the businesses he works for. But Santa finds himself both in love and in trouble with the law.

"Deck The Halls" is a clever movie from 2006 that stars Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick. In an attempt to make his house visible from outer space, DeVito's character decks his house out with an outrageous number of Christmas lights, stepping on his neighbors toes while he's at it.

2003's "Elf" is a laugh a minute, starring cheeky comedian Will Ferrell. "Elf" is about a guy that was raised as an elf, and how he struggles to live in the world with normal people. It's funny and it is cute.

"The Family Stone" gave Christmas-time of 2005 a wacky story to laugh at. Sarah Jessica Parker plays the girlfriend of Dermot Mulroney and she attends his family's holiday get-together with him where she just does not fit in. Once she lets her "freak flag fly" she finds real love and a place to fit in the Stone family.

In 2008 "Four Christmases" showed what it is like for many families, running form one family get-together to another, and in the case of Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon's characters, four family Christmases. Oh, what fun. There is a laugh around every corner int his one.

The year 2000 brought the Grinch to life once again with Jim Carrey as the grumpy green guy in "How The Grinch Stole Christmas." Not just a fun movie for the children, this is a great flick for the adults too. Enjoy learning the meaning of the holiday season all over again with this Dr. Seuss classic tale.

Teenagers are sure to love 2006's "Unaccompanied Minors." This movie follows a group of kids left to fly alone. Unfortunately a snow storm keeps their flights grounded and the children have a grand adventure trying to bring Christmas joy to themselves.

2006's "The Holiday" is all about finding love away from home. Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz swap homes for the season and find out that there is more to life than just work. Also stars Jack Black and Jude Law.

"Fred Claus" is Santa's older brother, and he is enlisted to be Santa's elf one year. Even though he isn't really the elf kind, Fred, played by Vince Vaughn, takes on the challenge. Also stars Paul Giamatti, as Santa Claus.

In 2003 "Love Actually" taught us that love does actually exist. The movie follows the love lives of numerous couples and stars names like Alan Rickman, Bill Nighy, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant.
