Ten Blogs About the NFL

Are You Ready for Some Football?

With the upcoming NFL season just days away, now's the time to catch up on your football reading. Here's a guide to 10 blogs about the NFL.

1. NFL Superbowl - There's a lot to be desired in the graphics department of this site, but it's kept up-to-date with NFL news. Updated numerous times a day, if you are on the go, this might be the blog for you. Short and to the point, yet still informative enough to warrant mention on this list.

2. 2006 NFL Betting Picks - Extra bucks burning a hole in your wallet? Take a gamble and visit this blog which features betting picks on NFL and NCAA College Football games. This blog also provides links to other betting sites.

3. Dave's Football Blog - While this is a general NFL-based football blog, there is some special attention paid to two teams in particular, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Carolina Panthers. The posts on this blog are pretty short, but they're notable because of the links they include.

4. Pigskin Bloggers - Pigskin Bloggers is a collection of highlights of NFL team's blogs. Basically, the guy who runs the blog, Jamie, takes the best of the best from around the league and puts them in one place for you. It's like one-stop shopping for all your football needs

5. The Tailgating Blog - This blog is dedicated to the practice of tailgating. According to Wikipedia, tailgating "can refer to the (often celebratory) practice of eating and socializing while perched on the open tailgate of a vehicle (though many people participate even if their vehicles do not have tailgates). Tailgating usually occurs in the parking lots at stadiums and arenas before, and occasionally after, sporting events." Tailgating is most popular at NFL games.

6. Kissing Suzy Kolber - The title of this blog refers to a moment during a Sunday Night Football game a few years back when the New England Patriots played the New York Jets. ESPN sideline reporter Suzy Kolber was interviewing a very drunk Joe Namath who said he wanted to kiss her. Ah, the glory of live television. As you can guess by the title, you can expect some humor on this blog which does weekend wrap-ups, news snippets, and a recent amusing post on NBC's decision to have Pink sing there Sunday Night Football Theme Song.

7. All Things Bill Belichick - Bill Belichick is the coach of the New England Patriots. Regarded by many as the best coach in the NFL (winning 3 Super Bowls in 4 years), this blog is dedicated to him. You can find partial (and sometimes fill) transcriptions of his press conferences or listen to audio clips from them. He hardly ever discloses much, but it's always fun to listen to him react to reporters dumb questions and then spit out some deadpan answer.

8. Stampede Blue: An Indianapolis Colts Blog - The Indianapolis Colts, led by star quarterback Peyton Manning are expected by many to go deep into the playoffs this year. After a season that fell short of the Super Bowl last year, the Colts are poised to make another run. This blog has everything you want to know about the Colts.

9. The Armchair Quarterback - Right now The Armchair Quarterback is posting his Division previews. There are good examinations of the teams, but at this point that's it. I'm excited to see what content will be up once the season starts.

10. The Ultimate Bloggers Fantasy Football League - By now you've either been in a fantasy league yourself, or know someone who has. Fantasy leagues have become immensely popular all across the country and now we've got people blogging about the practice.
