Ten Fun Stocking Stuffers for Teen Girls

Lisa Belle
Parents, here are some great Christmas gift/ stocking stuffer ideas for your teenaged daughters. Christmas is a valuable time for family to come together, and even if you and your teen aren't getting along, the right Christmas experience can help patch things up. From shallow to philanthropic, these gift ideas will thrill your daughter come Christmas morning:

Makeup: Fun lip-gloss, attractive eye shadows, and glittery eyeliner; makeup is the simplest "girly" gift to give. Let your daughter experiment with a "look" and develop her own style by picking out several fun varieties of makeup to work with. Try Sephora.com for more ideas.

Magazine Subscriptions: Take it from a teen: we love magazines. Forget the mags featuring anorexic-looking models and opt for confidence-building health, hobby, nature, or current events subscriptions.

Movie Tickets: Movie tickets are painfully expensive, especially on a teenager's budget. Give your daughter tickets, let her decide which movie she wants to see, and make it a family night out.

Starbucks Card: What teen doesn't need a huge cup of coffee after a long night of study? Starbucks is the coffee shop to go to, and when the card is empty your daughter can refill it as many times as she wants- it's a bit like a practice credit card. You can order a card at Starbucks.com.

Chocolate: Chocolate tastes heavenly no matter what occasion its for. But give your teen high-quality dark chocolate, and she'll be in a better mood, especially during that irritable time of the month.

Personalized Stationary: It's a fact: Calling cards are making a comeback. The uniqueness of personalized gifts makes anyone feel special, and with personalized stationary your daughter can write notes to friends and family, plus jot down reminders for herself.

Heirloom Jewelry: Does your family have a special necklace or pocket watch that's been passed down for generations? Your daughter will absolutely love a piece of heirloom jewelry- she'll realize that you, her parents, trust her to keep it safe, and she'll love the "realness" of it. One Christmas my parents gave me a beautiful little golden ring that belonged to my great-great grandmother, and it is and will always be extremely special to me.

Cell phone: By giving your teen a cool new cell phone equipped with digital camera, music player, Instant Messaging capabilities, etc., you'll be able to keep track of your daughter while giving her the freedom to network with friends and have her own social life.

Gym Membership: Nothing encourages health and well-being for your teenaged daughter like giving her a gym membership. Obesity rates are rising, and helping your teen live an active life will teach her to always be healthy.

Note: By giving your teen a gym membership for Christmas, she may take offense and accuse you of thinking she's fat, unattractive, etc. To get rid of this unpleasant consequence, get a family membership so everybody's included.

Adopt-a-Cause: Don't forget that Christmas is all about giving to those who really need it. You've probably made your annual donations to your favorite charities, but your daughter might not even realize that she, too, can help. Give her a voucher for, say, $25 towards her favorite cause. Also, at some sites, such as WWF.org, you can "adopt" an endangered animal and you'll receive a certificate of "adoption" and a plush animal of your choice.

Giving your teenaged daughter a wonderful Christmas will encourage her to be more involved with family, more confident, and more thankful for who she is. Parent-daughter relationships can be rocky, but with the right gift you can show your teen how much you truly care.
