Balloon Fun - Keep it Up
The classic game of Keep It Up is easy with balloons. Blow up a round balloon and use your hands, feet, and head to keep the balloon in the air for as long as possible. Different types of rules can be made for kids of different age groups. Try playing with just your heads, your feet, or with only one hand. Blow up a long balloon and use that to hit the round balloon up in the air.
Balloon Fun - Blow Races
Start with two or more kids and a blown-up round balloon for each. Using just the power of their breath, they can keep the balloon in the air or push it from one side of the room to the other. This is tough, but fun. You can also create balloon races across the ground using just the air blown through a straw. Create obstacle courses to blow the balloons around or over for an extra challenge.
Balloon Fun - Static Power
Most kids know that you can rub a balloon on their hair or clothing and build up a static charge. These balloons can be stuck to almost any surface. See how many balloons you can stick to the wall or the ceiling.
Balloon Fun - Balloon Sculpture
Use a variety of inflated balloons to build large sculptures, forts, or other things. Use loops of tape to stick the balloons together.
Balloon Fun - Balloon Animals
Using long, skinny balloons, kids can learn how to twist them into animals shapes. Some easy animals to make with balloons are mice, dogs, and fish.
Balloon Fun - Water Balloons
Instead of inflating balloons with air, try water. This fun activity is best done outside on a hot summer day. Toss the water balloons back and forth and try to catch them, or have a water balloon war.
Balloon Fun - Squishy Balls
This type of balloon is not inflated at all. Instead, use a funnel to fill the balloon with flour or other fine particles. Tie the end and use them for juggling, playing catch, and squishing.
