Frugal Gifts Without Breaking the Bank

As summer approaches, many high school graduates turn their eyes to independent living, either at college or in a starter apartment. As they do so, their frantic family members turn their thoughts to what to get to express their pride, without breaking the bank. Look no further, fellow gift givers! Here are ten gifts for your graduate for less than ten dollars
each!

1. A Laundry Basket packed with laundry supplies. Include soap, fabric softener, and some quarters for those machines. A list of basic laundry tips and how to's would also be a nice touch. Graduates often leave home without these supplies and skills.

2. A colander makes a nice gift basket when filled with dried pasta, jarred sauce, and appropriate spices. Perfect for entertaining a friend or two in the new home.

3. Do a little internet research and scope out what grocery stores are near the graduate's new school or apartment. A $10 gift card to one could come in handy when filling those new cupboards and empty refrigerator.

4. It may seem old fashioned at first, but a basket with envelopes, stamps, ink pens, and highlighters is sure to be appreciated the first time bills come due or a thank you note is
warranted.

5. An assortment of nonperishable, easy to prepare foods is always handy during late night study sessions. Examples would be easy mac, ramen noodles, or canned entrees.

6. A basic cookbook purchased new or used. Older cookbooks often have simple recipes with basic ingredients, while some newer ones focus on cooking using convenience foods.

7. A tool kit. Many young adults do not have a basic tool kit of their own, and it will come in extremely useful in a pinch.

8. A sewing kit. Make your own, or these can be bought quite cheaply at most dollar stores. Include basic mending instructions, and you've got a great gift.

9. A gift card for gasoline - with gas prices rising, this is sure to be appreciated on a limited budget.

10. A prepaid phone card, along with an address book filled in with names, addresses, and birth dates of family members.

And there you have it! You now have ten frugal graduation gift ideas, which are sure to be appreciated without breaking your budget. Most take little more effort than packing a few items into a basket and tying on a bow, and all are sure to please. All for ten dollars or less!
