You're enjoying a glass of wine on a quiet evening at home or a candlelit dinner with the one you love. The food and/or drink is lovely but one thing is missing...the music. Whether it's Valentine's Day, your anniversary, or "date night", you will want enhance the mood with some love songs. Here are some romantic suggestions:

"Colour My World" by Chicago

Released in 1970 on Chicago's Chicago II album, this song was played at every junior high and high school dance for the next decade. It's perfect for a slow dance with the one you love (or the one you hope to love). "Colour my World" is a short tune which was originally part of a longer composition entitled "Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon". I've always wondered why they used the traditional English spelling of the word "colour".

"I Can Dream About You" by Dan Hartman

This love song was released in 1984 on the album of the same name. The song was written for the movie "Streets of Fire". It's a song of longing for the one you love.

"Love Hangover" by Diana Ross

Released in 1976 from the album entitled Diana Ross, this tune was recorded despite Ms. Ross's misgivings about singing disco. The gamble paid off, establishing Diana Ross as a major disco star.

"Lady in Red" by Chris DeBurgh

From the album Into the Light which was released in 1986, DeBurgh wanted to title this song "The Way You Look Tonight" but found out there was another song with the same title. The lyrics speak of dancing cheek to cheek and may just inspire you and the one you love to slow dance around the living room.

"How Deep is Your Love" by the Bee Gees

This song, the love theme from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack which came out in 1977, was a sweet contrast to the hard-driving disco beat of the rest of the film.

"(They Long to Be) Close to You" by the Carpenters

This classic love song was written by the award winning team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and was recorded by the Carpenters on their 1970 album Close to You.

"Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye

No list of love songs would be complete without at least one R & B love classic. The late, great Marvin Gaye reworked this song (originally written by Ed Townsend) after meeting Janis Hunter, who would later become his second wife.

"Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper

The title of this song came from the name of the 1979 science fiction movie about time travel. Lauper spotted the movie title in TV Guide magazine and it became the hook in her new song. Time after Time was released in 1984 from Cyndi Lauper's debut album entitled She's So Unusual.

"Beauty and the Beast" by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson

Yes, the 1991 movie is a Disney cartoon but its beautiful theme song is a lover's delight, and it won an Academy Award.

"Can't Help Falling in Love" by Elvis Presley

No list of love songs would be complete without a contribution from "The King". The tune was featured in the 1961 movie "Blue Hawaii". It has been covered by many other artists, and Elvis concluded his concerts with this song.
