Ten Items to Make Housecleaning Easier

Jennifer Bell
I love to try new products. I also love to get my house as clean as I can as quickly as I can. These two facts mean that I have my own personal list of what gets my house done as quickly as possible so I can get other things done. I am going to share my list with you, in the hopes that you can get done faster, too!

1. Swiffer Wet Jet. This thing is AWESOME. It gets up dirt quicker than I used to be able to fill a mop bucket. I use it for spills and for my weekly mopping. Occasionally, I scrub the floors with a scrub brush, but for the most part, I use the Wet Jet. All you have to do is put a clean pad on it, and insert the cleaner bottle and batteries. Press the trigger to release the solution, then mop over it. The solutions have a nice, clean smell and they dissolve dirt fast. The solutions and pads can be a little expensive, depending on how often you mop, but there are often coupons out for them. The ease of using the Wet Jet as well as it's cleaning power make it worth the extra money.

2. Pledge Duster Plus. This is similar to the previous Pledge dusters and Swiffer dusters, only these have a small bottle of Pledge Muti-Purpose attached to them. You can spritz the duster or the area you are dusting and the duster not only gets up the dust, but fingerprints and the like as well. It's compact and inexpensive, and cleans quickly. I can go over a whole room in a matter of minutes.

3. Clorox Cleaning Wipes. These get up small messes, dirty fingerprints, and daily dirt. They come in a canister and I just pull one out whenever I need one. I keep canisters in the bathrooms to do quick wipe ups daily in between deeper cleaning. I use another canister in my kitchen to wipe up germy messes as I am cooking, as they are also disinfecting. I use them to clean out phones, door knobs, refrigerator and stove handles- anywhere I think germs might be waiting. There is very little these won't clean.

4. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I have three kids. Every one of them has written on the walls at some point. The Magic Erasers get it off every time. They clean shoes, the little divets in the refrigerator and stove hood. If you wipe one across your refrigerator handles, you will be surprised at how much better they clean them. They work on patio furniture, showers, tubs, and they evenget scuff marks off of floors. They truly are "magic".

5. Spray Power. This is sold at Walmart in a white bottle with blue and red writing. This stuff gets up the greasiest, dirties messes. It stinks. Truly. I hate the smell, but I love the stuff it cleans up. When my husband works on cars and gets greasy filthy, this stuff cleans up where he has cleaned HIMSELF up. All I have to do is spray it on, wait a couple of seconds and wipe it up. It gets soap scum off of my tub and my shower door. It is a heavy-duty cleaner for when lighter cleaners won't work.

6. Greased Lightning. This stuff is great in the kitchen. It cleans greasy messes off of the stove and backsplash. It cleans the sink and countertops easily and quickly. It helps get grease stains out of laundry and carpets, and can also be used to mop floors if you aren't using a Wet Jet. It can be used on mini blinds, upholstery and bathroom fixtures. It is a fabulous degreser that I recommend everyone have in their house.

7. Clorox Bleach Pen. This thing is great for bleaching out stains on white clothing. It's really handy on items that aren't completely white, as you can control where the bleach goes. It is also great in the kitchen and bathroom for cleaning and killing germs on grout and caulking.

8. Pledge Muti Surface. This helps clean up without having to change products. It cleans glass and metal as well as it does wood products. This makes things go a lot faster. Just spritz it on a clean cloth and wipe whatever need wiping. The Multi Surface cleaner will get up dust, fingerprints, smears, etc.

9. Dirt Devil Spot Scrubber. This is an inexpensive little spot shampooer that helps get spots up out of the carpet quickly. If you don't have time to shampoo the entire carpet, use this. It gets up small stains and spots with ease and I haven't been disappointed by it yet. It is a little loud, but it can be overlooked. Spray the solution on the carpet, turn the switch to scrub to let the brushes scrub the dirt up, then turn the switch back to vacuum to suck up the water and shampoo solution.

10. The best cleaning product ever??? The Dyson vacuum. Yes, I know they are expensive, but my carpet has never been cleaner. I vacuumed, twice, with my Hoover before using the Dyson and the cannister was still full after using the Dyson. I may have been living in filth. I have used it to vacuum the carpet, the furniture, the curtains, everything I can think of to vacuum. I have even vacuumed my fans and walls. It is easy to use, easy to empty, and the suction is strong. It is also easy to push. I love my Dyson and I recommend it for everyone!!

Hopefully, you have tried some of these products already. If you haven't, I urge you to try them and see for yourself how much easier cleaning can be!
