Ten in One: 6-16-08: Martha Stewart Vs. Street Bums

Last week, I headed to Ohio with my son, Cody and my partner, Lance. We stayed at his grandfather's home that has been vacant for a while. The property is beautiful with an awesome creek and room for nightly bonfires. The kitchen still had items strewn around from another family member leaving. My OCD tried to kick in as I felt the urge to clean, but I was supposed to be on vacation!

Suddenly, I had a duel going on. Martha Stewart with her home made matching horns and pitchfork on one shoulder saying "Clean something! Make something for the windows!" and a shining street bum on the other saying "It's not your house! Go pee in the corner and take a dip in the creek."

What did I choose? Well, I didn't pee in the corner, but I didn't wage housewifery rage and make drapes either. What do we do when we have two spirits vying for control? What path do we take? I've found the middle ground works best. We don't float away and we don't burn in agony. So, I just picked up a few things to make me feel more comfortable and headed out to enjoy some heavenly nature in the creek. I didn't plan to spend much time in the house anyways. I satisfied both and denied both and stayed right on track in my plan to enjoy the trip.
It's called the straight and narrow for a reason. When you begin to swerve to either side, you find yourself unbalanced. It's imperative to keep your eyes straight ahead on your goal as you walk that line. If you do find yourself swerving to one side, you'll eventually have to swerve the other way to balance it out.

Can you learn to be calm in the chaos? Can you follow your bliss and let the external world go on without affecting or stopping you?

Even worrying about things you think of as "right" (greener living, cleaner house, better parenting) is still worrying and soul shrinking. That's the accuser: the "satan" accusing you at every corner.

To find peace is to step forward and embrace every moment with love, to know your own worth, to unconditionally receive as well as give and to realize you can quiet the voices by forging ahead while thanking them for their input.

I'm lost somewhere in my own mind, recreating myself repeatedly over and over...

It's amazing how you give up everything to receive everything.

I love writing: To instantly see the unseen become seen, to let spirit flow onto paper, to empty myself of the spirits weighing me down, waiting to find birth into the physical realm.

We become what we fear and judge so that we can experience it and find understanding.

It's amazing what you can hear when you tune out the t.v. and tune into each other...or your self. A voice leads you....but you have to clear out all the other voices first.

Ten: Grand Finale:

While in Ohio, it was awesome to stand by the creek and let sound pour forth from me in a chant while I had my arms outstretched. By the end of it, every part of me was vibrating and the forest looked more alive than ever. I saw the forest shift, and I felt as if I had slipped into another world. I had an understanding that something had been unlocked. I looked up to see a tree in the midst of the woods that had a big gnarled face shape, complete with two large moss green eyes. It was like a guardian of a gate looking down on me.

Sound affects matter. Sound is the key that opens doors to other worlds. Open up, make some noise. Don't worry about how you look. Just open up and let sound pour forth. Start to breathe, but let sound be made, and you'll naturally feel where to go next. That's the sound that is needed in a moment.

In case you were wondering what happened to the newsletter last week, I decided to wait the few days so it would be back on track for Mondays.
