However, this movie taught me about a bit of history that I didn't know. I was unaware that King George VI had a speech problem. The history lesson learned from the King's speech makes the movie worthwhile. However, this gem of a film is much richer than that. In fact, here are ten reasons to love The King's Speech.

1. Colin Firth has a royal way about him. He is perfect in the title role of King George VI. Colin shows both sides of the king. He shows his commanding side and his vulnerable side. Colin Firth is a lovable king. He should win an Oscar for his performance in the film.

3. Geoffrey Rush shines in the role of a speech therapist. He is great as Lionel Logue, the king's speech therapist. It was wise to have a Australian play this role because Lionel Logue was Australian. I couldn't see anyone else play this role. Geoffrey is also an executive producer on this film. He does a good job wearing two hats.

4. The location is spectacular. This movie takes place in England. the cinematography is great. The rainy scenes look realistic. In addition, it seems as if most movies about royalty are shot in England. Plus, I have always wished to travel to England. Moviegoers fall in love with England and royalty when they see this movie.

5. There is no weak part is the King's Speech. Everyone in the movie is great. The casting director for this film does a good job. Helena Bonhan Carter is a perfect Queen Elizabeth and Jennifer Elhle gives a memorable performance as Mytle Logue. This is a exceptional ensemble cast.

6. It is a funny and touching film. The friendship forged between King George VI and Lionel Logue is fantastic. They become real buddies after going through what they go through. The swearing is funny and the singing is funny. This movie illustrates that strong friendships have their rough spots. However, strong friendships remain in tact. for a long time. The bit with the marbles is funny too.

7. The soundtrack is good. The music is perfectly sited for the film. It adds a nice touch to it. Sometimes, movie soundtracks get lost in films. However, this one enhances the film. It is worth buying.

8. It appeals to a wide audience. The King's Speech is an independent film; however, it has reached mainstream movie theaters. Teenagers and adults will find something enjoyable about this film. The audience will applaud at the end of this film. I would see it again.
