Ten Romantic Comedy Clunkers of the Decade

Rachel Heller
Movies are a part of our culture and many people go to the movies based on their moods. In other words, sometimes moviegoers are in the mood for an adventure movie and sometimes they are in the mood for a science fiction movie. I like adventure movies such as National Treasure and Night at the Museum and science fiction movies such as Star Wars. I am also a fan of romantic comedies such as Notting Hill and Julie and Julia. However, since I have seen many romantic comedies in the last decade, I feel confident that I can produce a list of the 10 worst romantic comedies of the decade.

1. Gili: This dog of a romantic comedy starred Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. It involved a guy who turns a lesbian into a heterosexual. This movie was anything but comedic or romantic. This is why Gili made the list.

2. Jersey Girl: This is another Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck movie. I really should have to say anything more; however, I will tell you that this movie is about a dad that has to raise his daughter after his wife dies during childbirth. This isn't a comedy so that is why this movie made this list.

3. What Happens in Vegas: This romantic comedy clunker tells the story of a couple getting married when drunk. However, they stay together to get the money. This movie tried, but failed. I am not a big fan of Ashton Kutcher; so this movie made the top ten worst romantic comedies of the decade.

4. Bewitched: I was really looking forward to this romantic comedy because I love the television series. However, casting Nicole Kidman as Isabel was a big mistake. This is why Bewitched made the list.

5. PS, I Love You: This romantic comedy involves a widow that has to follow message left by her deceased husband. This movie was more depressing than romantic or funny. I would call this movie a yucky romantic tragedy.

6. Bridget Jones' Diary, The Edge of Reason: This romantic comedy makes the list because it was an unnecessary sequel that wasted the wasted the acting talents of some good actors.

7. The Break Up: This loser of a romantic comedy starred Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston. It involves a couple that breaks up and might get back together. This romantic comedy makes the list because I didn't have to see this movie due to the fact that these two stars were dating at the time of the movie's release.

8. Love Happens: This romantic comedy also starred Jennifer Aniston as a florist who has had a hard time finding love, until she meets a guy who has recently lost his wife. I actually liked this movie a bit. However, it makes the list because it wasn't really a romantic comedy; it was more a dramatic movie with comedic moments. In addition, Aniston's salary should produce better romantic comedies.
9. Couples' Retreat: The title speaks for itself. Four couples go on a couples retreat to save their marriages. This romantic comedy wasn't funny and the moviegoer doesn't care what happens to the couples at the end of the movie. This is why it made the list of the top ten worst romantic comedies of the decade.

10. He's Just Not That in to You: What is so romantic about guys that are commitment shy? This romantic comedy was sad not funny. This was not the perfect Valentines Day movie. This is why it made the list.
