The city of Sydney, located in New South Wales, Australia is truly a special city. For such a large city it is full of beautiful sights and magnificent tourist attractions, and there are some you just can't afford to miss. Here are the Top Ten.

The Rocks - The Rocks is a well-known area in Sydney located on the western side of Sydney Cove. It is a popular tourist spot due to its historical reminders. It is lined with cobble streets, older style buildings, and the ever-famous weekend Rocks Market. There are plenty of tourist shops in the area and there is no shortage of entertainment.

Sydney Harbour Bridge - The Sydney Harbour Bridge is an impressive sight. It was completed in 1932, and functions to unite the city from the Northern to Southern sides. If you fancy a walk there is a Pedestrian walkway on the bridge that will allow you to view it up close and personal.

Sydney Opera House- The Sydney Opera House is a famous sight within Australia, and well-known across the world. It is located on the Eastern Headland of Circular Quay with beautiful water views as a backdrop. Its roof actually resembles large white sails, as if they are blowing in the wind. It hosts four main auditoriums, and there are tours of the Opera House that run daily.

Circular Quay - Circular Quay is known as the focal point of Sydney. It was build around Sydney Cove and these days it is buzzing with people. There are restaurants, shops, walkways, and buskers for those who are just there to enjoy the entertainment. Otherwise it is a main area for commuters with ferry departures, train stations, and the Overseas Passenger Terminal.

Tarongo Zoo - If ever you are to visit a zoo, Tarongo should be the one. It is situated harbour side and is home to more than 4000 creatures, many native to Australia. You'll need a full day to get even close to seeing everything. Another fun aspect are the ferries that depart from Circular Quay to take you to Tarongo Zoo.

Darling Harbour - This waterfront park is located on the western edge of the city. It is alive with people and there is something to do for everyone. The Harbour side Centre is full of shops and food stops. There is also the magnificent Aquarium, Museums, and the Chinese Garden.

Sydney Aquarium - This magnificent aquarium will give you a true taste of Australia's abundance in marine life. You will find sharks, sting rays, seals, coral, and numerous types of fish. The underwater tunnels give you a true glimpse into what lives beneath the surface of that great ocean.

Manly Beach - Manly Beach is an absolute must-see for anyone in the Sydney area. It is located on the North Shore on a narrow peninsula. It has a lovely community feel to it, and is lined with spectacular beaches and plenty of shopping. There are numerous restaurants to choose from after a hard day at the beach. You can also take a short ferry ride from Circular Quay to Manly Beach which is magic on a clear day.

Royal Botanic Gardens - Sydneys Botanic Gardens are none other than spectacular. It is a favourite spot for many. It was established in 1816 and is located east of the Sydney Opera House. The vibrant plant life and natural beauty of the gardens is a sight you won't want to miss, even if you're just strolling through.

Hyde Park - This park is located on the eastern edge of the city centre. It is lined with truly spectacular trees, fountains, and a giant public chess board. It is also where the Anzac Memorial is located. There is a complimentary 45 minute tour which takes place at noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
