Ten Steps to Discovering Your True Beauty

Gwynita Leggington
Do you feel beautiful? Can you look at yourself in the mirror and say that you are a beautiful person? I'm a person who feels that everyone is beautiful. The world is made up of so many different types of people; therefore beauty comes in all sorts of shapes and forms. Everyone is beautiful in his or her own special way.

True beauty comes from the inside of a person's heart. If you are a kind, loving and compassionate person, it will project onto your outer appearance. Search for that beauty that is buried deep within your soul. You do not have to be America's Next Top Model in order to turn a few heads.

In order to feel beautiful, you must truly take care of yourself (inside and out). Most people do not want to be around a miserable or bitter person, no matter how good-looking that person might be. So, strive to be that beautiful person that God made you to be. Sometimes it takes just a little creativity to bring out the beauty inside of you. Just remember that beauty begins on the inside.....So, let the true you, shine through!

Below are a few beauty tips that I feel will put you on a path to defining your own personal beauty.

1) Take good care of yourself! This simply means that you should strive to live a happy and healthy lifestyle. Take care of your body (inside and out). Learn to love yourself. Also, find positive things to say about yourself, when you look in the mirror.

2) Take good care of your skin. Wash you face daily with water, soap and/or a facial cleanser. There are different types of soaps and products that you can use to cleanse your face. You can meet with a beauty consultant, visit a beauty salon, or purchase a magazine or book that discusses beauty tips. In addition, you must take care of your entire body. For example, it is a good idea to apply lotion to your skin daily. Also, if you are out in the sun a lot, be sure to apply sunscreen or sun block to your skin.

3) Drink plenty of water (at last eight glasses a day). Water is very good for the skin and for your complexion.

4) Eat well-balanced meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables. This is good for your skin and complexion too. And don't forget to take a multi-vitamin supplement.

5) Good hygiene is a plus! Please shower or bathe daily. Who wants to hang around someone with a bad smell. Wear fragrances that YOU really like and that YOU feel comfortable with wearing. Personally, I don't wear perfume because of my allergies; I wear mild scented lotion or body cream. I know what works and what doesn't work for me.

6) Dress to cater your figure. Everyone should dress to compliment their shape. I'm not saying specifically what you should or should not wear, but your clothes are a reflection of you. People will perceive you based on what they see. Wear comfortable clothes that fit your body! Your clothes shouldn't be too big or too little. There is a right size for everyone.

7) Wear colors that bring out your beauty. There are certain colors that really stand out on me. I love how brown, black and red looks on me. So, figure out what colors bring out your beauty. Talk to an expert in this field if you need some assistance. Or ask your family and friends for their honest opinions.

8) Ladies, don't over do the make-up. Please remember that you are going for that classy look, not trashy look. Use colors that compliment your complexion and skin-tone. Do some research and find out what works for you.

9) Take good care of your hair. Shampoo and condition it and choose a hair style and color (if you choose to color your hair) that flatters your face. You don't have to try to look like someone else. Be creative and unique!

10) Take care of your teeth and brush them daily (especially in the morning when you wake up and at night before you go to bed). You want to take care of your teeth so that you can have a beautiful and radiant smile.

Everyone is beautiful and everybody should let their beauty shine. Never get down because you are not a certain size or height. Discover that true beauty that lies inside of you!
