Ten Things You Should Know About Tia Mowry

Tia Mowry has been in the public eye for over fifteen years. As the star of two successful television series, Tia has managed to balance career and family and stay committed to her morals and values. This is a rare feat for a former child star. This is why I have been a fan of the actress from the beginning. Here are ten things that you should know about Tia Mowry.

1. Sister, Sister, Brother, Brother - Tia is a twin (okay, you probably knew that). But in addition to her twin sister Tamera, Tia also has two younger brothers. Tahj is an actor and singer who starred in the 90's comedy Smart Guy. The youngest Mowry, Tavior is a high school football player.

2. Second in Command - Tia is the second older in the Mowry clan. She was born on July 6, 1978 at 4:32pm...a full two minutes after her sister, Tamera.

3. Singing Sisters - Tia is probably best known for her roles as Tia Landry on Sister, Sister and Melanie Barnett on The Game. But did you know that Tia was also as a singer? In the early 1990's Tia and Tamera were in the girl group Voices. They had a minor hit with the song "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" (click here to see the video). It's VERY 1990's.

4. Tia is a born again Christian -Tia and her sister began born-again Christians at the age of eight. The sisters used to invite friends over to "play church." In an interview on the 700 Club, Tia described her decision to continue in her Christian faith as a young adult: "I didn't know why I was going to church. I didn't know why I was reading my Bible. I didn't really know why I was praying, but I can remember at 15 years old I said, 'I'm going to walk with Jesus Christ. I want to know Him for myself.'"

5. Brains and Beauty - Tia graduated from Pepperdine University with a degree in psychology. She is also an avid reader and names The Alchemist as her favorite book, hands down.

6. Tia is a Tweeter - Tia is an enthusiastic Twitter user. In addition to tweeting about her life as a wife, her family and the upcoming premier of her show The Game, Tia also frequently answers fans questions. You can follow her tweets here .

7. Trading Places - According to a recent tweet, if given the opportunity to switch lives with any person for one day, she would chose Mother Teresa.

8. Tia is a sports fan - In addition to supporting her little brother Tavior at his football games, and all the fictional football games she supports as Melanie on The Game, Tia loves the sport in real life. She is also a big basketball fan. As a California resident, she is of course a Lakers fan.

9. You can call her "Med-School" - Does life imitate art or art imitate life? I don't know, but Tia says that if she were not an actor, she would be a doctor (just like her character Melanie). Specifically, Tia says she would have been an OBGYN.

10. Tia is going to be a mother - On January 11, 2011, People magazine announced that Tia and her husband, Cory Hardrict are expecting their first child together in the summer of 2011. Tia and Cory married in 2008 during a beautiful outdoor ceremony in California. The couple dated for six years before getting engaged in 2006. According to sources, the pregnancy will be documented on Tia and Tamera's new reality show for The Style Network, Tia and Tamera Take Two.
