Ten Tips to Beating the Morning Blahs

Crissy Gottberg
1. Indulge yourself a little before you hit the sack. When you are relaxed, and stress free, your sleep is less troubled and you will find it easier to get up and enjoy the morning. A good book, a cuddle with your significant other, or a warm glass a milk are just a few suggestions to relax before you close your eyes.

2. Affirmation. Even before you get out of bed start with an encouraging thought like: "Something good is going to happen today."

3. Wake up with a scented shower. The aroma of lilac or strawberry soaps coupled with the warm water will start your day on a sweet note.

4. Dress up no matter what your itinerary is. It's a proven fact, if you take some time to slip into clothing that makes you look fabulous you will feel fabulous as well. Even if you are going to the gym you need to feel like every moment is worth it. Buy something comfortable, and eye catching. It will make a world of difference.

5. Turn on the tunes. Music soothes the savage beast, including the blah-beast trapped inside of you. Put on something up beat and happy to get your body moving with the rhythm. The movement will raise your heart rate and banish the blahs in no time.

6. Eat a light breakfast even if you are on a diet. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We hear it all the time, but it bares repeating because it is the truth. If you do not eat in the morning you are more likely to consume more calories throughout the day in order to make up for that needed energy. A light meal won't weigh heavily on your body as you go through your morning routine, and will give you that needed boost of energy.

7. Do something sexy. Snuggle up to your honey before you crawl out of bed, leave a note for them when they wake, or just give them a long passionate kiss. It will give you both something to look forward to throughout the day.

8. Change things up a bit. You always have coffee, take a shower, then run off to work? Do something new and different. Take tea on the patio, or eat breakfast out. When you get into a pattern you get complacent and feel stuck in a rut, this adds to the blahs.

9. Add some color to your life. Pick some flowers, paint a picture, go to a museum. Color is scientifically proven to boost the mood and liven the senses.

10. Go for a walk. The fresh air and the exercise are both good for the body and soul.
