#1: Horseback Riding Enjoy horses? Spend some time outside at the stables, and take a look at the scenery while you ride a horse on your property or at a local stable. Believe it or not, horseback riding can burn calories, and you'll have a pleasant afternoon ride.
#2: Rake leaves As the leaves fall, you may find yourself raking leaves in order to avoid a fire hazard and/or to make your yard look more presentable. Raking leaves can burn calories, as you're constantly moving and using your muscles.
#3 Walk the dog You and your dog could both use the walk, so take the time to take your dog on a walk throughout your community. You'll both feel better afterward!
#4 Take a hike Explore local parks and hiking trails, and burn calories as you enjoy your afternoon. It's not difficult to find a place to hike in most areas, even if you live in the city. Turn on your iPod and start moving!
#5 Gardening Spend time preparing your yard for the winter months, and as you work, you'll likely find yourself beginning to break a sweat. By the end of the day, your yard will be ready for the cold weather and you'll have burned calories.
#6 Wash your car Wash your car before it's too cold outside, and you'll be exercising at an easy pace. Add a coat of wax for an extra lap!
#7 Attend a local festival By attending a community festival this fall, you'll find yourself burning calories as you walk around the fairgrounds. Avoid the fair food, however, or you'll require a few extra laps around the fairgrounds to help get rid of the extra calories you consumed.
#8 Play frisbee Take your frisbee out of the closet and throw it around with your friends and family. You'll likely find yourself having fun as you chase the frisbee and perfect your throw.
#9 Clean your house Stuck inside with things to do? Turn on your favorite music and make cleaning the house a fun experience! Dance as you vacuum, and you'll burn calories as your house becomes cleaner.
#10 Go Shopping Believe it or not, as you shop, you'll burn calories as well. Reach a little higher for the groceries, park in a space that's far away from the store's entrance, and feel the burn!
It's important to make sure that you do these activities for 10-15 minutes, as it allows your heart rate to rise and the calories to burn. Enjoy the cooler weather and reap the rewards of a healthier you!
