One: Open any doors or windows (if you have them) to get air in the bathroom.
Two: Wipe down shower walls after each bath or shower. Use a dry towel to best absorb the moisture.
Three: Use the ventilation fan regularly. If you do not have one, I highly recommend installing one. These are fantastic for getting excess moisture out of the room which can lead to black mold.
Four: Break out the Clorox, or whatever brand of bleach you use. A diluted solution of leach and water wiped across the shower walls and bathtub once or twice a week, does wonders for inhibiting the growth of black mold in the bathroom. If you don't like bleach, use white vinegar, which is not as strong, but has acid in it that will be almost as effective.
Five: While you are cleaning, remember to keep your bathroom as clean as you possibly can. This serves several purposes, the main one in this situation being it will help you prevent ideal conditions for mold growth.
Six: Keep your shower curtains clean and dry. Spray them down with a mildew remover, lemon, or vinegar. Dry them regularly after use. It just takes a quick wipe down with the towel. Of course, if you have family members, you will have to tell them to do this as well. If they do not, you may have to go in behind them and remind them, or if worse comes to worse, do it yourself. If you allow the curtain to remain wet, it produces a damp environment conducive to molding.
Seven: If you have mildew along the caulk that meets at the bottom of your tile walls and the top of your tub, you can soak cotton balls in bleach and apply them to the spots. Leave overnight and the mildew will be gone in the morning.
Eight: Get rid of that carpeting. If you have your bathroom carpeted, you are likely causing a breeding ground for mold growth, especially if the bathroom is small and not well ventilated. This is a carpet that most likely gets wet every single day, increasing the likelihood of mold growth. Taking it out and installing a waterproof flooring is your best bet.
Nine: Speaking of floors, keep those floors clean. Mop them down with white vinegar and dry, several times a week. It does not take long to do this, and mold hates vinegar.
Ten: Purchase a humidifier for your bathroom, and use it.
These ten tips, when used regularly, are great for preventing or removing mold from your bathroom.
