A stressful holiday is rarely an enjoyable one. We want our holidays to be special. We want them to go smoothly. We want everything to be as close to perfect as it can possibly be. We especially want everyone to be relaxed and to have a great time.
There are many things that you can do to ensure that you have a great holiday. There are ways to decrease the stress. We can do this be eliminating potential problems ahead of time. All it takes is time and careful planning. Here are ten tips and ways to help you have an stress free and enjoyable holiday season.
1. The first way to reduce holiday stress no matter what the holiday may be is to have as much time to plan as possible. Begin planning out what you'll do and what you'll need weeks before the actual date of the holiday. Item go on sale for holidays weeks before the holiday in near. There's a reason for all of those Christmas items being out on store shelves already when Thanksgiving is not even here yet. Planning ahead gives you lots of time to get things done. Waiting until the week before a holiday to plan for it will make your stress level skyrocket. There are just to many things to do to wait until the last minute.
2. The second thing that you can do to reduce the amount of stress you'll be feeling this holiday season is to plan out who you will have at your gatherings. Make a guest list. A guest list allows you to know how many people to seat and to serve. It let's you know a head of time how many items you'll need and how much you'll spend in all. When you list is made weeks a head of time you can have a more accurate idea of what to plan and how to plan it.
3. Using invitations is the third way to decrease the level of stress the holidays bring. How so? Because you will know who's coming and who is not. Putting your telephone number as a RSVP number means that people will call you to let you know if they can attend or if they will not be able to. This will give you an exact number of who will need to be served and seated.
4. The fourth way that you can ensure a great holiday is relax. Purposely relax often during the holidays. Tell yourself that so long as you take the time a head of time to plan things out that you will have a successful and enjoyable holiday season. Holidays get frenzied. We need to remind ourselves to relax often and to take time to care for ourselves as we are trying to please and prepare for everyone else.
5. The fifth thing that you can do to eliminate a whole lot of stress is to plan a holiday budget. Whether it be costumes, food items, decorations, gifts, or what ever, it should all be budgeted. How much do you think you should be able to spend without hurting the budget for the household expenses and the bills? Never spend more than you have. That results in debt. Plan a holiday budget. Include everything you will need and make adjusts to your needs list as need be.
6. The sixth way that you can decrease the stress of the holiday season is to save money. Save for at least four weeks before the holiday. Have the money to get the costumes, the decorations, and the candy too. Have the money to get all you need for a fantastic meal, and the gifts that you want to give. The way to have more money to spend for the holidays is to save for it longer. Twenty five dollars a week for four weeks is one hundred dollars. Take fifty a week and set it aside you'll have two hundred dollars in those four weeks and four hundred if you save for eight weeks instead. For the Christmas holidays saving for ten weeks would give you five hundred dollars and saving for twenty would give you one thousand dollars. You can buy a whole lot of gifts with that.
7. The seventh way to enjoy your holidays more this season is to not use your credit cards. Do not put yourself into debt. Do not allow your holiday spending to put you into the hole and hurt your families finances. When you spend on credit you are sure to over spend. It is the buy now pay later idea that gets people. It'll be okay. Or will it? It won't because later eventually comes and then the bill is due. You buy more than you need and then you have to pay for it all, after the holidays are over. You also pay interest on each item. You end up paying more per item than you would have if you had paid cash. The cash that you can have if you save a little bit each week. Debt is a major holiday and life stress. Avoid the stress of it by not allowing it to happen. Save instead.
8. The eighth way to avoid holiday stress is to not over do things. Sure, we want to make is wonderful and to please everyone. We want to go all out. However, we don't need to. It's just not necessary. Set a limit to the amount you'll spend. You don't need twenty decorative items when five would do. Keep things simple. Save money buying getting good deals when you can. Be a smart shopper. You will be sure to please everyone just by thinking of them. It is and always has been the thought that counts. People don't expect you to go all out and spend a fortune and have everything all fancied up. People are just happy that they can celebrate with you and have a good time with you. Do not go over board to avoid a lot of stress during the holidays.
9. The ninth thing you can do to reduce your stress level during the holidays is to ask for help. Don't try to do everything your self. Even when you have time and money it can still get overwhelming. Preparing for a holiday requires many things to be done. Families members love to help and feel included. Include them to make them feel special and to reduce the amount of stress you'll feel too.
10. The tenth and final way to reduce stress that I give you is to remember the importance of the gathering and the reason of the holiday. Don't get so carried away in planning that you miss out on the chance to celebrate with your friends and family. Keep the festive spirit of the holiday in your heart. This way as you are trying to plan and prepare you are doing it with a light heart and jolly soul. That alone can decrease the amount you feel greatly. Thanks for reading and take care!
