Ten Ways to Look Younger Without Plastic Surgery

How to Cheat on Looking Younger

WorkingMom
Women are always searching for ways to look younger. The most common suggestions are life style changes such as getting enough sleep, changing your diet, and reducing stress. The other option offered to women is plastic surgery, expensive and possibly unsafe.

This article outlines ten ways you can successfully cheat on looking younger without having to undergo plastic surgery or making drastic lifestyle changes.

1. Hair Color- White or grey hair adds at least ten years to your look. If you have grey hair either go to a beauty salon and have it dyed or do it yourself. A box of hair color costs $10 and is by far the most effective way to instantly knock ten years off of your look.

2. Long Hair - Short hair adds ten years to your age. So many women over age 40 think they should cut their hair short. To me, you might as well hang a sign around your neck saying - I'm over 40! Nothing makes you look older than a short hair cut. Think about it. When women in their 20s want to look older what do they do? Cut their hair short! So if you want to look younger why would you cut your hair short?

Take for example Annette Bening and Catherine Keener. Both are beautiful woman but who would you guess is older? Annette was born in 1958, Catherine 1959, but Annette looks much older. Why? It's because Catherine's long hair makes her look younger.

Now some may disagree with me about the short hair. That's not true, they may say, look at Halle Berry, her short hair doesn't make her look older. But that is because she is wrinkle free! Halle Berry looks young because her face is young. If you are fighting a battle with wrinkles and aging skin, short hair is not going to make you look younger, it will only draw more attention to your age.

The average look for young women is long hair; the average look for older women is short hair. So just think, if you go with the look that is normally associated with younger women, you are going to make it appear that you are one of those young women.

How long should the hair be? Anything past the jaw bone is long enough to make your appearance more youthful.

3. Eye shadow - When using eye shadow, avoid blues, greens, and purple colors. Use powder, not cream because cream will only make your wrinkles more noticeable because it settles into the lines.

4. Eyeliner - Use white or brown, not black. White opens your eyes, makes you look more alert. Black is too dark and can draw attention to dark circles under your eyes, another aging factor.

5. Mascara - Do use mascara, but be careful to avoid the Tammy Baker spider eye look! A couple of swipes with the brush is all you need to look fresh and youthful.

6. Exfoliate - While there is no secret cure to getting rid of wrinkles, exfoliating with a mask twice a week will remove dead skin and give you a healthy glow.

7. Earrings - Avoid clips on and other round shaped earrings. Nothing dates you more than clip on earrings. Silver hoops, dangly or other up to date earring styles will help make you look younger without really trying!

8. Pearls - Avoid pearl necklaces. Again, peals date you the way no other accessory can. Pearls are reminiscent of June Cleaver from Leave it to Beaver. Leave it to Beaver aired from 1957 to 1963. Do you want people to think you were alive in the 1950s? No! Once again, if you wear accessories that are associated with older women, you are only going to reinforce the appearance that you are older. Whereas, if you go with accessories that are normally associated with younger women, you are going to fool people into believing you are younger.

9. Shoes- Avoid flats and if you have blue veins running through your feet, stay away from sandals as much as possible! High heels make you look young and sexy. If your feet can't handle heels, go for stylish kitten heels or flats with pointy toes.

10. Clothes- Stay up to date on current trends. You do not have to throw out everything you own, but take a look through your closet and toss out anything that looks like it was designed at least a decade ago. Buy yourself one or two new outfits that are up to date in the current style and fashion trends. Update with one or two items at a time and you will successfully transform your wardrobe into a more youthful look and as a result make you look younger as well.

The key thing to remember: always go for looks that are associated with younger women, such as longer hair, up to date accessories, and stylish clothes. If you dye your hair and avoid dated items such as pearl necklaces and clip on earrings, you can successfully cheat on looking younger without having to undergo plastic surgery or making drastic lifestyle changes.

I agree and I would add to this to smile! The more you smile, the more youthful your face appears. Many people guess me to be in my early 20s and I am 32. I always have a smile on my face! Great tips!!
