Who do you think of when you read these words? If you are like many dog owners, the first image that comes to mind is of your dog.
Our dogs give us pleasure and companionship every day. They often show us a love and loyalty unrivaled by what we receive from other people. So, don't you think it's time to show the canine in your life just how special he or she is to you?
Now, I'm not suggesting that you go to the extremes of many celebrity dog owners. Indulging your pet doesn't have to be expensive. Here are ten ways to spoil your dog without sending you to the poorhouse.
1. John Paul Pet Grooming Products
Why not pamper your pet with salon products from a reputable name in beauty supplies? These grooming products are created by the co-founder of Paul Mitchell. They offer high end products without the price tag of a fancy salon. Among the items are various shampoos, conditioners, detanglers, pet and ear wipes, and tooth and gum wipes. These products range between $10-15.
2. Collar Charm
Give your dog a little bling! What better way to show your love for your dog than with a Sweetheart Charm or Bling Bone Charm from CoolPetStuff.com. These charms give your dog a little bit of glitz without a big cost. The prices ranged between $10-13.
3. Dog Boots
Add a touch of style and protect your precious pooch's feet from the elements with a set of cute boots. Your dog's feet are vulnerable to many surfaces, whether it is hot pavement, ice, or rocks. These boots will also keep your dog's paws clean and dry. Just think, no more muddy paw prints! Dog boots are available in many different colors, styles, and sizes. CoolPetStuff.com offers boot sets for XXXSmall all the way up to XXLarge. These sets cost from $18.95-29.95.
4. Drinkwell Pet Fountain
Give your dog his/her own drinking fountain! This device was developed by a veterinarian to give your dog a continuous, fresh water supply. It filters and recycles water to offer cleaner, better tasting water for your pet. Not only will this make your dog happier but also healthier. The fresh water helps with kidney and urinary tract functions. Fountains are available in regular and large sizes. Additional water reservoirs, filters, and cleaning kits are also available. This item is sold through Drs. Foster and Smith. Prices for fountains are $40-70.
5. Pet Cooling Collar
Help keep your hot dog cooler with a stylish cooling collar. Just chill the collar in the refrigerator or freezer until ready to use. This can be used in place of the dog's regular collar or over top of it, if desired. Within only minutes, your dog will feel refreshed and cooler. The collar is made to fit all sizes of dogs. You can choose from five styles: Stars and Stripes, Royal blue, Red Bandana, Black, and Camouflage. This collar is available through Paws and Tails for only $12.
6. Dog-e-tag
This item is both trendy and practical. Imagine a dog tag that allows you to input up to 40 lines (400 characters) of data. This device can be programmed in five different languages, is water-resistant, withstands temperatures from 14-140 degrees Fahrenheit, and weighs less than an ounce. Tags are available in six colors and cost only $40. That's a small price to pay for your pup's safety. And just think, no more annoying metallic clinking every time your dog moves!
7. Sof-Bed Pet Cot
Your dog needs a warm, comfortable place to sleep. This pet cot is ideal for home, travel, or outdoors. It's also especially helpful for older pets with arthritis or joint problems. It's designed to keep your dog up off from the cold floor. Cots are available for pets up to 75 lbs. and cost $40-50 through Drs. Foster and Smith. Splurge on this purchase and you may get your bed back from your pet again!
8. Doggie Jacket
Okay, so we've all seen the stars with their pets dressed in outfits we can't even afford for ourselves! These jackets are very cute but much more affordable. Paws and Tails sells a wide variety of jackets, all priced at $25. Choose from faux fur, denim, rain gear, sports, faux leather, and others. What a great way to keep your dog looking adorable and feeling cozy!
9. Pet Stroller
I'll admit it. The first time I heard of someone buying a pet stroller, I thought it was hilarious (sorry Mom). But, honestly, I've heard a lot of positive comments about them. Pet strollers are great for pet owners who love to take their dogs everywhere with them: shopping, jogging, vet visits, etc. They are also ideal for aging pets that can't get around as quickly but don't want to miss the fun. For a great selection of pet strollers, check out Justpetstrollers.com. Most of their strollers range between $70-250.
10. Waggie Tail Treats
Let's face it. All dogs love to eat! Waggie Tail Treats offers gourmet treats made from all natural ingredients. Their treats are handmade for health-conscious pet owners. If your pet has specific allergies, you can even contact them to have treats made especially for your dog! They offer just about every kind of dog treat you could imagine. A few choices are peanut butter puppy cups, carob dipped pretzels, honey bones, apple cinnamon turnovers, and even a carob chip birthday cake (personalized for your dog). They sound almost good enough to eat yourself, don't they? Just think how much your pet will love them.
Of course, the best way to spoil your pooch is still the old-fashioned way...lots of hugs and kisses. Have fun pampering your pet!

Doggie shoes!!! I love the idea
Great ideas. I will definately try the cooling collar for summer.
My $0.02 is that if you want to treat your dog, get them something that they'd enjoy. Some of your ideas are great in that regard, such as a comfy pad to sleep on, or dog treats. Others, like the charm for their collar seem more for the dog-owner. The dog would probably be oblivious to it. Fun topic though, and well written.
The pet cooling collar sounds great. Living in Florida it gets extremely hot in the summer and my little girl doesn't like staying outside very long. I may pick one up for her and see how she likes it. Excellent ideas.
Great suggestions, many I'd never heard of. Yes,our pets are another member of the family.
