#10 - Escape (Pina Colada Song) - Rupert Holmes
I was about 15 years old when this one hit it big. I simply hated the whole thing from beginning to end and it seemed like it was always on the radio! Take a listen if you want here.
#9 - I'm Too Sexy - Right Said Fred
I think that probably everyone remembers this one.
"I'm too sexy for my shirt."
Very catchy, very corny, and stayed on the charts way too long for me! Take a look at the video here.
#8 - Kokomo - The Beach Boys
This 1988 tune off of the "Cocktail" soundtrack had everyone singing names of all of the Caribbean islands that end in an "-a." It was played so much it became very tiring, very fast. Watch the boys perform it here if you can stand it one more time.
#7 - Barbie Girl - Aqua
"Come on Barbie, Let's go party."
This one's typical European bubblegum pop recorded by Danish group Aqua. Hated it!
#6 - Achy Breaky Heart - Billy Ray Cyrus
Before he was better known as Miley's dad, Billy Ray Cyrus was a country hit maker with this one being his first and biggest. Now I know there are many country songs with corny lyrics, but this one takes the cake...and that ridiculous dance. Take a look at it here.
#5 - Puttin on the Ritz - Taco
How can anyone take anyone named Taco seriously? "Puttin on the Ritz" indeed!
#4 - Blue (Da Ba De) - Eiffel 65
"Bluest house with the blue little window and a blue Corvette and everything is blue..."
Ahhhhh....the worst thing I hated about this one was that it was so darned catchy you couldn't help but know all the words. Check out "Blue" here.
#3 - Mr. Roboto - Styx
I used to love Styx until they came out with this one in 1983. Stupid, stupid, stupid! You can see it here.
#2 - Rico Suave - Gerardo
This idiotic song, one of the first songs ever to be recorded in Spanglish, is all about those hot blooded Latin men who think they're all "tasty and smooth." Eeeewwww! Take a listen if you can here.
#1 - Disco Duck - Rick Dees
I hated this one from the very first time I ever heard it. Recorded and released during the height of the disco era in 1976, this stupid song featuring the voice of a duck actually hit number one in October of that year. Here's the song if you could bear to listen to it.
A couple of also-rans:
The Cheeky Song - The Cheeky Girls
Heartbeat - Don Johnson
The Streak - Matthew Wilder
Break My Stride - Matthew Wilder

Post a CommentI must have horrible taste, because I LIKE some of these! LMAO -
I agree with a few of your choices, but 9 & 10 are o.k. in my book.
Sorry, I love achy breaky heart by Billy Ray.
I either agreed that that I hated them or I never heard of them. Thanks for your contribuition.
My vote would be "Whip It" by Devo.
Hahahah, I know I'm dingy but I like the song Blue. Hahaa :o)
You chose some really good oldie but baddies. Add, Having My Baby, to the list.
I completely agree. Those are awful songs! I hate 'em all.
I can't believe I actually know all these songs, and totally agree with you! Now that Blue da ba di song is stuck in my head...
Most of these I disagree with-but I cannot stand Rupert Holmes and Barbie Girl...
