Ten New Year's Resolution Ideas for Wal-Mart that Will Help Their Associates and Customers

For many years society has held the tradition of making New Year's For many years society has held the tradition of making New Year's resolutions. They want motivation to do something to improve who they are. Some resolutions are completely unattainable and some are met with little to no trouble at all. I think that some corporation should look into their greedy hearts and make resolutions of their own. Here are ten resolutions Wal-Mart should think about.

1. Be up front with the public. If you were up front and announced your decisions with reasonable press releases, maybe the negative press would not occur. Tell the public what your up too and tell it in a way that they cannot argue with. Do this before you try to hide what you are doing.

2. Be up front with your employees. To much information is kept from the employees. People in general do not like the kind of surprises you are offering. Don't try to silence the rumors that seem to always become truth.

3. Offer more employee incentives. Taking away the incentive programs took away the only push the associates had go the extra distance. Resolve your self to giving back and you will get more than you ever bargained for.

4. Search and pay for the best health care possible. Whatever you do to make the entire life of your employee's life
better will make you better. People will come to work even if they do not like the job for a decent health care plan.

5. Reinstate emergency room visits into your list of excused absence. Eliminating Emergency room visits from your excused absence list was a huge mistake. Things happen and the last thing anyone needs to worry about when in a situation that is life threatening is whether or not they will have a job.

6. Open layaway back up. Many people including your associates can't afford to outright by many things they want or need. If you give layaway back to the people, you will find that they are more accepting of what you do.

7. Give the scheduling system back to the stores. People are much more considerate of the needs of other than a computer is.

8. Offer some kind of holiday bonus to all associates. People deserve to know that their company cares and sometimes the discount isn't enough.

9. Spend the money it takes to hire enough associates, fix hazardous material, and clean the air ventilation system. These things would make for healthier associates and customers who were eager to shop and work at their local Wal-Mart.

10. The most important resolution is to remember Sam Walton. If you ask you self is this what Sam would have wanted and the answer is no, don't do it.

I know it's hard to view these resolutions as reasonable. Especially, when you are such a large corporation with your own behinds to look after. However, when you take care of the associates, the people who shop at your stores, and the world around you, the money will be there and the associate will too. Otherwise, be careful not to lose your beanstalk.
