Tennessee Abuse Survivor, Josh Osborne: Five Years Later
Josh appears to be a very happy and a much healthier looking young man these days. He has gained some weight, has graduated from high-school and is working at the local Goodwill Store. However, Josh Osborne's real passion is to help other children who are being abused and to prevent others from suffering the horrors he suffered.
Along with State Representative, Sherry Jones, Josh Osborne is working towards the goal of placing pictures and names of everyone who has ever abused a child on the Internet. This child abuser registry would function much like the sex offender registry.
Last year, Josh worked alongside Governor Phil Bredesen to help toughen child abuse laws within the state of Tennessee.
Josh says, "I'm just doing this because all of this is God's children and God wants them to be safe. God chose me to help them out." It seems that Josh is using his past abuse as a platform to help other children who have been abused. This is truly a very noble cause and Josh works tirelessly toward that end in spite of enduring daily dialysis treatments. Josh is on the list for a kidney transplant and is hoping for a match soon. So far, there have been no matches for Josh and his father has not come forward to assist his son, which is not surprising to Josh. He takes obstacles in stride and lives his life with both, passion and compassion. Josh says he feels great and that he is blessed by God every day. With that kind of outlook, Josh Osborne will succeed at anything he sets his heart to do.
Josh Osborne was rescued from his abusive parents five years ago in Lebanon, Tennessee, after being chained to a bed and starved. At the age of 15, he weighed only 49 pounds at the time of his rescue. He has lived with his Aunt in LaVergne, TN since that time.
Josh Osborne is an example of what recovery from abuse looks like. He lives his life with abandon and is enjoying the safety he now has, along with the feeling of accomplishment and usefulness. He has a heart for the abused and works hard at making it possible for other children to live their lives free of abuse. It is a huge task, but one he gladly accepts as his God-given role in life.
