If you live in Tennessee you know that the Tennessee Rep is one of Nashville's best sources of live, professional, critically-acclaimed theater. The Tennessee Rep has just announced their slate for 2010-11 season, and it looks to be a good one with an interesting blend of productions including Southern classic "To Kill a Mockingbird," contemporary drama "Yankee Tavern," Tony Award-winning farce "Alfred Hitchcock's the 39 Steps," foot-stomping musical "Pump Boys and Dinettes," and the return of the beloved holiday favorite "A Christmas Story."

2010 - 2011 Tennessee Rep Season:

To Kill a Mockingbird by Christopher Sergel
October 2 - 23, 2010 - Based on the classic Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee, "To Kill a Mockingbird" is required reading in many schools and presents a coming-of-age tale of honor and injustice set in the South. The story of Atticus Finch is told by his son Scout Finch. When a black man, Tom Robinson, is arrested and accused of raping a white woman, Atticus Finch agrees to defend him. This Nashville production helps mark the 50th anniversary of the American classic.

HOLIDAY SPECIAL: A Christmas Story by Phillip Grecian
November 20 - December 18, 2010 - Based on one of the most popular Christmas movies in recent years by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown, and Bob Clark, "A Christmas Story" is a different kind of coming-of-age tale. Full of nostalgia, hilarity, and touching moments, "A Christmas Story" is sure to be a family favorite as it follows Ralphie Parker's quest to get a Red Rider carbine-action, 200 shot range-model air rifle.

Yankee Tavern by Steven Dietz
February 5 - 19, 2011 - In a tavern in New York City, a young man is questioned by his late father's best friend, who spins conspiracy theories in a dramatic thriller about a young couple's future and past events surrounding 9/11.

Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps
March 19 - April 2, 2011 - "The 39 Steps" is adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan from the movie of Alfred Hitchcock and an original concept by Nobby Dimon and Simon Corble. "The 39 Steps" is a fast-paced comedy-mystery about a man whose boring life suddenly takes on a new dimension when a spy he has just met is killed by assassins with a butter knife.

Pump Boys and Dinettes
April 24 - May 14, 2011 - Created by John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk, Cass Morgan, John Schimmel, and Jim Wann, "Pump Boys and Dinettes" is set in a little stop out on Highway 57, and is a foot-stomping musical full of hummable, funny ditties like "Be Good or Be Gone," "Tips," and "The Night Dolly Parton Was Almost Mine."

The Tennessee Rep Performances of "To Kill a Mockingbird, " "A Christmas Story," "Yankee Tavern," "Alfred Hitchcock's the 39 Steps," and "Pump Boys and Dinettes" will take place at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville. See www.tennesseerep.org for more information.

Oh, very cool. I love the film of "The 39 Steps" and would love to see it performed live. "To Kill a Mockingbird" sounds good, too. Great information.
