Just when you thought it was safe to say Perry Fewell was staying with the New York Giants for another season...

The Tennessee Titans interviewed the current New York defensive coordinator on Friday. ESPN and the Daily News are reporting that Fewell, Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey, Tennessee offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger and Tennessee offensive line coach Mike Munchak are all in the running. Ralph Vacchiano of the Daily News stated that Munchak is the favorite to get the job.

This was Fewell's fourth interview of the offseason. He met with the Browns, Panthers and Broncos in January. All three of those teams chose somebody else. Expect the story to remain the same, as it looks like Tennessee is looking for an offensive mind to lead the team next season.

Is Fewell getting these interviews just because of the Rooney Rule? No, but it certainly doesn't hurt. For what it's worth, Fewell has gone on the record in favor of the rule. With that said, most close to the situation do not believe that Fewell will be a head coach in the NFL in 2011. Unless the New York defense has a complete meltdown next season, it's very likely that Fewell will again be a popular coaching candidate next offseason. Hopefully, he gets a head coaching gig after leading a Super Bowl winning defense.
