I sat on the floor and put the tennis ball under my thigh. Slowly I moved my leg from side to side. That made the tennis ball roll across the sore, tense muscles not with them up and down. When I first started it was very painful. And I could feel knots in the muscles. But gradually the knots lessened and so did the muscle pain.
I had a couple of sore places on my back, around my shoulder blades. I stood up, went to a wall and placed the tennis ball on the sore muscle and "leaned" into it. I slowly rolled back and forth across that muscle too. Be prepared, this does hurt. Once more, after slowly rolling the tennis ball back and forth across the muscle, the tension started to dissipate and the pain started to lessen.
If you would like to work both sides of your spine at the same time. Put 2 tennis balls in a sock, lean up against a wall with a tennis ball on each side of your spine. Either apply pressure to the sore spots or slowly roll the tennis balls.
Besides using a tennis ball, dog or cat toy balls can also be used. I wanted to use a tennis ball for the bottom of my feet. But it didn't quite get to the spots I needed it to. I picked up a hard little ball, about half the size of a tennis ball, and used it. Perfect! It does a great job on the foot pain.
Using tennis balls may not relieve all of your pain. And they may not relieve your pain forever. But if you are like me and looking for a break from muscle pain and tension, then tennis balls might be what you're looking for.
TIP: Try to drink a lot of water when using tennis balls to get rid of pain. It helps to flush out the toxins that you will probably shake loose from doing this.
My own experience.
