Tequila Drinks for Your New Year's Eve Party

Cindy Marcelle
This New Year's I'm planning on throwing a party that my friends remember and a theme party or serving a house drink is a great way to set the mood and save some money. I'm exploring several different themes and one of them is a Mexican Fiesta. A fiesta one of my favorite parties to throw on a budget. I can cook up a bunch of chicken and black bean Quesada's, tortilla chips, and salsa for pennies.

And what else but Tequila themed drinks would I serve for my Fiesta? Here are my homemade recipes for yummy Tequila drinks for your New Year's Party.

Tequila and Pineapple Cobbler

Cobblers are one of my favorite classic drinks. Although they can be made with any seasonal fruit the pineapples and brown sugar make this tequila drink a true south of the boarder gem.

1.5 oz. Barkeepers Call

1 oz. Golden Tequila

1 oz. Orange Juice

½ oz. Brown Simple Syrup

Pineapple Chucks

Mix Barkeepers Call, Tequila, and Orange Juice together in a Boston Shaker. Strain in Cocktail Glass over Pineapple Chunks.

Papaya Freeze

This yummy desert drink makes enough for 3-4 drinks and can be made with mangos as well. Blend the lemon and lime whole to make this an authentically Mexican drink.

5 oz. Golden Tequila

1 c. Frozen Papaya

½ a Fresh Lime

½ a Fresh Lemon

1.5 oz. Grenadine

Blend together and serve in wine goblets. Garnish with a spring of mint.

Mexican Punch

Making a big batch of punch for everyone is a great way to stay on budget and this punch makes enough to serve 10-15 adults. Blend the lemon and lime whole before you mix it in to make your punch truly Mexican.

2 ½ c. Golden Tequila

2 c. Orange Juice

2 c. Pineapple

3-4 c. Club Soda

1 whole and unstrained Lemon and 1 whole and unstrained Lime blended with 2 tbs. water

Mix all but Club Soda in a large punch bowl. Top with Club Soda and garnish with frozen lemon and lime wheels.

Tex-Mex Coolers

These pack a bit of heat so beware!

2.5 oz. Golden Tequila

6-7 oz. Lemon/Lime Soda

1 Jalapeño Ring

Pour Soda over Tequila in Collins glass and garnish with Jalapeño Ring.

Tequila Sunrise Fizzes

Champaign at midnight is a must and this Tequila cocktail brings a bit of Mexico to your bubbly. And here's a tip - save money by making your Champaign Cocktails inexpensive sparkling white wine.

1 oz. Golden Tequila

½ oz. Orange Juice

¼ oz. Grenadine

Champaign

Stir Tequila and Orange Juice together in a mixing glass with ice. Pour Grenadine into the bottom of Champaign flutes and layer the mixture on top. Fill flutes with chilled Champaign.
