Episode 2.14 The Good Wound

Episode 2.14 of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles aired on 2/13/09. The episode is titled The Good Wound and deals with the aftermath of Sarah being shot in the leg. Warning: my episode review contains plot spoilers.

The Good Wound is a pretty decent episode but did have a few minor plot problems in my opinion. The number one problem is the sudden appearance of Kyle Reese, played by Jonathan Jackson. I was very interested in this new plot twist until it was quickly revealed that Kyle is just a figment of Sarah's imagination. Great, I am just so delighted that the writers are still continuing with the theme of making everyone think Sarah Connor is crazy. Ok, not really. I actually hate this plot trend. Kyle being back from the future was cool. Kyle being a "ghost" is just plain silly.

The second problem of the episode was that Riley, played by Leven Rambin, survived her suicide attempt. Yep, I'm a terrible person. I was really hoping that Riley would bite the dust. I do not like the character or the actress. The character is so boring, whiney, and not very likeable. The actress just isn't that good. I can't believe the casting director couldn't find a better love interest for John. Whatever Riley's secret storyline, it needs to be revealed soon because it has been dragging on way too long.

The part of the episode that really was great was when Catherine Weaver, played by an awesome Shirley Manson, went on terminator mode and completely wiped out all the employees of the secret laboratory that Sarah just discovered. Amazing how she can keep her clothes pristine white while slaughtering everyone ruthlessly.

The second season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is moving along at a very slow pace. The plots need to be moved along a lot quicker. I also think the cast could be trimmed a little because some of the great characters are under utilized. For instance, neither James Ellison nor Cameron is used to their full potential. My suggestion; more Cameron, less Riley.

I still enjoyed The Good Wound. I think I just expected a little more from the debut episode of the series being moved to Friday night and the first episode after the holidays. I give the episode 4 out of 5 stars.
