Terrence Jones to Washington... Or Not

Yesterday evening we sat in speculation while we watched a live press conference being conducted at Jones' in high school gymnasium. Terrence Jones had been sitting on a list of college suitors for a long while, and everyone was anxious to see which hat he would ultimately wear. After a lengthy conference full of other players, including Terrence Ross, Jones finally took the stand. He spoke for a few minutes, thanking everyone who had helped him to get to the point he is currently at, and then, the time finally came.

With a sweeping motion his hand shifted to the Kansas hat before returning across the table to put on the Washington Huskies brand. It was over. The decision had been made... or was it?

May 1st, just a day after picking up the Huskies cap in commitment, Jones has reportedly been having second opinions on where we will ultimately go to school. While this puts all other universities on the map in terms of his service, there have been rumors circulating that Jones spoke with John Calipari, the head basketball coach at the University of Kentucky, for nearly 15 minutes after the conference had been held.

If Jones decides to attend UK in the fall, it will be the second top recruit lost by Washington for next year's basketball season after Turkish big man, Enes Kanter, changed his mind and decided to play for Calipari at UK.

There will likely be more on the story developing across the next few days. Unfortunately, as we have learned with watching Jones' recruitment over the past few months, the kid is having a hard time deciding where we will end up, and we may not know until the letter of intent deadline has approached.

Personally, I feel Jones will end up in Washington with high school friend and teammate Terrence Ross. However, the possibility of Jones lining the front court for Calipari is still not out of the question. Should Calipari land Jones, it will conclude an excellent recruiting class set for next year; which is something that Calipari needs after losing nearly his entire team to the NBA. However, if Jones decides to attend Washington, the Huskies will officially record one of their greatest days of recruitment in recent memory after landing Ross.

Regardless, it's been very interesting to watch Jones' recruitment unfold, and it looks like the fun will only continue to go on for the next few days.
