When taking a test, be sure to properly prepare! That means taking good notes in class and making sure you have a clear understanding of your textbook. Avoid skipping any of these steps. When taking notes, be sure to connect your notes from class with your textbook (in other words, note page numbers and chapters as well as days that professor went over this particular subject so that you have a reference to refer back to outside of class). Study in a quiet environment and give yourself plenty of study time. Leave nothing to the last minute! Get plenty of rest, because sleep is important and drink lots of water '" avoid becoming dehydrated during study time and class!

Never panic. If you're suddenly down to the wire and you realize that you're not quite prepared for a test, choose the most important subjects throughout class and study them. Grab a study partner or a study group.

It's best to keep your memory fresh. Plan for more than one study session during preparation for your test. Concentrate heavily on one subject until you feel you have a clear understanding of the subject. Ask questions and quiz yourself frequently. It also helps to not only study the night before a test, but also the morning of. If you take public transportation, take the time to study your notes and your textbook on the way to class.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Instead flood your brain for as many days as you can with the information until the knowledge becomes natural and part of your thinking.
