Testicle Implants for the Male Dog or Cat

CJMathis
If the reason your male dog has not been neutered is because someone in the family thinks that they will look odd or it will change that male status of the dog here may be just what Fido and his owner needs.

Implanted testicles, yes that is exactly what it says, in today's world Fido can have testicle implants to keep his male feelings strong and active even if he is neutered.

Suite 101.com states, "This new trend emerging in veterinary medicine - cosmetic surgery in animals is commonly done to improve appearance and quality of life". However, Suite 101 also states that this procedure is clearly done, "for cosmetic and manly ego".

A licensed veterinarian must place "Neuticles" while the male dog (or cat) is under anesthetic. The testicle implant is then placed in the scrotum and the procedure is usually done during the neutering surgical procedure.

Testicle implants can be made from different materials, some are made from Polypropylene and cost approximately $119 a pair, solid silicon which may cost as much as $249 a pair and liquid-filled lifelike testicles that even appear to have veins and are deemed "ultra-plus" can run the owner upwards to $889.

Glenn A. Miller first presented "Neuticles" to the veterinarian community in 1995.
However, not openly accepted by the veterinarian community at that time, these implants have now taken a front row seat in today's world of image for not only men and women but for the pets that are at their sides.

According to NW Daily the testicle implants help restore the male dog (or cats) natural look. However, there is no clinical evidence that these implants make male dogs (or cats) anymore confident than a good trainer can impress on the pet.

Confidence in a male dog (or cat) comes from training and contact with its human counterparts. It can clearly be said that neutered or non-neutered males can be confident or submissive no matter if they have testicles or not. Having been in the dog training arena for many years I learned early on that an over confident male dog (or even cat) can be much more aggressive and hard to control then a middle of the road male dog (or cat).

Non-neutered dogs and cats have problems the same as neutered dogs and cats. Male dogs that are not neutered can be aggressive and dominant towards other animals and humans. In tact males can become sexually frustrated if there are non-spayed females within a mile of the home. The male dog can begin showing signs of aggression while the male cat can begin to spray and cause physical damage to items within the home.

As an advocate for neutering of male and spaying of female dogs and cats I do not agree that implants are necessary for the personality of a male dog or cat. I do however; believe that control of the overpopulation is a necessity.

It is amazing what some people will waste money on, give it to me I could find a much better way to spend it. Thanks for opening my eyes, stranger people than I thought, just neuter.

I think the human needs psychotherapy. The animal will get along fine.

I hope I'm not alone in being WAY more weirded out by fake testicles than by the idea of neutering?

OMG! I have never heard this before! LOL cheers, CJ

    This can't be real.

I agree with Sunshine. If it isn't necessary to have surgery,it won't happen.

I have known about these neuticles for years. I agree with you, I am for spaying and neutering dogs and cats, and think these implants are not necessary. I am against animals having surgery without a good reason.

This is absurd. If a human has dificulty with how a neutered pet looks, then it's the human that has the problem.

I agree that male pets do not feel less masculine after being altered. I've heard of this, but think it's ridiculous. Get them neutered. They'll be fine.
